Anyone know what happened to the Bench?

I hope they get it up soon. I have some open trades. Its by far the best site on the net for set builders and lower end trading. Most of the hobby info posted over there comes from here in one way or another.

We can't fill the need for people who want a highly controlled community. FCB will never be that.


Some people want that, and the bench does a great job at it.


It looks like they were able to restore their database, and they are repopulating exactly like I would if it were me doing the server migration. They should be up and running tonight based on what progress I can see.

The admins were doing a software update yesterday. Seems like it took longer than anticipated. The owner has a new daughter still in the hospital and hasn't had a chance to get things fixed. It should be back up later tonight.

The problem is that while a lot of them are here, they aren't here to trade. I've been trying to get bulk Derek Bell cards. If The Bench was up, I'd have everything I need already. Trying here? Nada.

I will never figure out why it is impossible to get a trade done for guys that aren't prospects or HOFers here.

This is in no way a slam on FCB. FCB is still my favorite hobby site. I just can't trade here.

Yeah but 30x Derek Bell? Shouldn't be that hard of a get when you'd even accept commons.

I'd agree The Bench has a bigger/wider collector base as indicated.

Outside the mainstream? Since attempting to trade I have asked for Darryl Kile (fair enough about outside of the mainstream), Derek Bell, and Lance Berkman.

I have made three trades.

FCB doesn't attract people that want to make trades for anything other than flipping. (Obviously these trades happen here, but they are far and away the minority.)

FCB DOES attract some of the most knowledgeable people and is great for discussions.

I have found The Bench is the best place for trading, there is less emphasis on Buckets and more on lists. As a non-prospector and low-end trader, I have always found it difficult to trade on FCB. Only 12 feedback in 2 years here. :?

Hope the Bench returns soon, I too have a few deals pending.
