This was suggested long ago and shot down. I still think it is a good idea.

we have focused on the hobby talk portion, because I personally felt it to be more valuable.


Trading will come along, but with only 2 years of history we need more time.

I couldn't agree more. I can trade at The Bench. If I want info, I come here.

I would say though some of my nicer HOF cards lately have been from this site, it isnt always easy to find them but they can ber found with some work. Also, if you bring folks over who deal in non prospect cards, it will help to help it happen faster.

It is hard to attract people over here that don't dabble in non-prospects :lol: "Hey buddy, come try to trade over here. There will be nobody interested in what you have to offer because you offer cards that are more than four months old and those guys have actually played in the Majors."

Honestly, i think you could find alot of people interested if they knew folks had those types of cards. I know I would be.

I certainly understand it may be tough to manage different collecting types all in one board, but having those two different icons is a way for the site to show that it does what it says for all types of collecting!

Unless it's prospect stuff, why bother?

This is a prospecting driven board and very little attention goes elsewhere.

You are 110% correct and its very hard to trade a koufax auto on this site.

The problem is that we started out mainly as a prospecting board. The people who are interested in non prospects do not use the trade boards since they can never find anything and those trying to move stuff can never get deals done because the people that are looking for it have stopped looking for it.

We have 3 times the traffic that the bench has and I can guarantee that we have just as many non prospect guys (look at all of the player collection threads). It would take 5-10 people who would be willing to sacrifice themselves to updating posts and interacting on the trade forums to start getting people on the bandwagon. If we can get a small class of non prospect traders who use the site on regular basis, the non prospect collectors would start to come back and the vintage traders would start to pile on.

The other problem I have seen is not that people are unwilling to deal, its that all people care about is what it sells for on ebay. If I wanted to buy something for ebay price, I would have bought it on ebay. Granted I would rather buy from a board member than a random ebay seller, When I am trying to trade and people tell me what it sells for, I scratch my head. Im not buying, so I dont care what it sells for. If you want to move something, you sometimes have to give a little, and I dont see much of that around here.

I like this board so much better than the bench but I am also a non-prospector. I dont own a single rookie card newer than 1991 (that I know of). I wish we could get some HOF/retired buyers and sellers in here.
