We finally have someone who admits they are in it for the money.

I voted same rate - which is 0.

I would however, buy a few game used items that I want.

Im honestly not sure which is worse...

collecting cardboard pictures of men.

or

collecting stuff men used.

Honestly, I enjoy the game used aspect of the hobby now as much as I once enjoyed cards. Too many petty little people have ruined card collecting for me. I just don't get enjoyment out of it anymore. Very few true collectors remain. Luckily, those same leeches and trolls aren't into game used...or atleast I have not run across them in my game used searches and purchases. Thankfully.

The two sets I would go nuts for would be PSA 8 or better 1934 Goudey and 1933 Tat Orbit.

Outside of that...not much would change.
That would be crazy!

By any chance are you working on those sets now? [In low-mid grade?]
Yes...working on both in low grades.

The answer to the "why those two sets" question is one player - Dick Porter. The guy in my avatar. Dick was a childhood friend of my grandfather and after his playing days would take my dad hunting/fishing/etc.

What started as a Dick Porter collection began ballooning into set building.

My habits would explode. I wouldn't be the bane of Wossa but I would be the bane of every Houston Astros collector on these boards

I'd start going after some of the pre-war Houston cards. There aren't a ton of them, but I'd love to have them in good condition.

I might have a small player collection if anything at all. I love baseball, but the only way I can justify buying cards is because I hope to sell them for more. I do like autographed books.

I would buy more prospects because I find it fun and interesting..

I am in it solely for the money, tbh I don't know why people collect cardboard...

Yea, thats the way I look at it. Even with my player collection right now, if any of the guys make the majors and their prices spike I wont have too difficult a time of moving them

Very cool story!
If you have a photobucket/site showing your set progress I would love to see it!

If money wasn't an issue I'd go absolutely insane and obliterate everything in my path.

And I'd buy every case I could find of 1988 Donruss and build a gigantic bonfire with all of them.

I would have one sick Hall of Fame auto collection...

I would be able to have a nice house built with a room just for my collection..

I think I would also try and set up a card show to get as many Hall of Famers signing at once here in Puyallup..
(I can hear everyone think, where the hell is Puyallup?) :D

Dude, back in the day before Paypal I can remember sending you checks and having the dangest time writing your address on the envelope. My brain's natural inclination was to spell it Pullayup and I messed up many a time on that one.

Buying would increase. I'm 100% in the hobby for the fun of it, and realize I'm losing money on every purchase. Extra pocket cash means I'm filling some serious holes in my personal collection.

Actually, I need to change my answer slightly. I'd collect less because I'd be too busy running the new Astros AA affiliate.

I've already stated that I would buy a rock star tour bus...and would be hauling a train of Uhaul trailers behind it from city to city buying cards. :D

...and giving cards to the needy.

After I made sure my family and friends were taken care of, I'd buy everyone on the FCB their white whale and then go absolutely wild buying any other cards that struck my fancy. I'd also complete a 1975 Topps set in PSA 8 or higher as that was the first set I opened/collected as well as other full Topps sets through the years.

If money were no object, I'd get absolutely stupid. My buddy and I have often said we'd open a shop and, since we wouldn't have to worry about it being profitable, just sit around and crack wax all day.

I'd also take out a full page ad in Beckett every month offering top dollar rewards for the rest of my Signature Patches set until I finished it.
