There are a lot of questions. I'm torn. I want to rip, but can I really expect to get more value from doing the bulk case break thing than I could from flipping the cases? Maybe. The base checklist is the most compelling I've seen since 2007 BDP or 2006 BC, and I contend that it is way more exciting and deep than either of those. This checklist literally gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Let's say you get your cases a week or 2 after release, would that change your mind in busting?

Sure, but I believe that is a moot point.

In the long run, is anything ever really worth the rip?

we aren't talking about the long run, we are talking about the here and now

I am considering the entertainment value of the rip as well, let's not forget it's value.

I find it odd that you are willing to put a price on a variable such as entertainment, but try and negate a variable such as 'the long run' marketability. Because when determining if a break is worth it, all variables must be individually considered. Having said that, there is obviously no right answer here as each will have their own premium(s) placed on a slew of variables, each with a different draw and/or detraction.

For me personally, anything near $1000 for this is a waist of time and money, fun factor included. Only thoes lucky enough to pull multiple, low numbered, parallels of the top draws will even come close to making their money back. So at the end of the day,98% you are going to be left with tons of worthless stock, and a handful of quick sellers that might get you 1/2 of your money back if your lucky. So the real question for me is..... Do I want to pay $400-$600 just for the 'fun' of breaking this? Answer? No. I'll buy singles...

The base C/L is more compelling than 2007 BDP which had Heyward, Moose, Laporta, Bumgarner, Parker, Price, Guerra, Joba, Longo Green RCs, Lincecum Green RCs, Taylor and Freeman?

I think its good, I don't think its that good.

agreed. ripping is fun, but if your primary goal's maximizing your likely roi, i don't see ripping @1k+ to be the way to do it. maybe i've ripped too many cases, but it's not that 'fun,' especially when you have to sort, list, ship it all. plus, if you can't be 1st (or near to 1st) @ listing, your roi will likely diminish

Well, this is interesting.

Blowout has just lowered their prices for 2010 Bowman cases.

Hobby -- was $930, now $865.
Jumbo -- was $1135, now $1030.
they always do that...jack prices up when someone buys a bunch of cases, lower them back down, jack them up again. i'm thinking not many buyers @ 1k+ b/c seriously, how many rippers are that deranged about ripping bowman?

I'm thinking he's manipulating the market and seeing if he can get stores and other dealers to sell to him cheaper. Once he gets more supply, he'll jack up the prices again.

yep, he does it all the time. i remember when i was buying 07 bcdp @ 375/case (before heyward was GOD) from BO, so demand wasn't huge + that price was right/a little cheaper than ebay. someone else bought a bunch of cases right around when i did + then bam, price got jacked up to 500 w/o rhyme or reason. what's odd is atlanta/bo seem more like gas stations lately- e.g., you raise 50, i raise 50. used to be a little more price disparity between them.

I'm torn as well. I always want to rip, but I'm wondering what the value will top out at if I do rip. And I agree about the checklist, I would say it's better than 2007 BDP as well. This is just STACKED.

I always think I'm going to sell - in at $699 for two jumbos and $630 for three hobbies. Then I remember that the Harper Super is in one of those five cases.

then some reseller lost money

that's below cost

then we would have a really sunk reseller

because if it's on ebay then the reseller isn't a distributor, and has to pay ebay fees.

I think the threshhold is $892.87 for ripping jumbos and $796.43 for hobby cases. Of course, those rates are at five cases or more of each. You must reduce the price by $53.64 for single jumbo cases and $36.22 for hobby cases. This is assuming the most recent checklist provided by topps twitter holds true.

Happy busting, everyone! (This is going to be the longest three weeks in a long time......)

There are more costs involved than simply what the reseller paid for it.

If he bought them from a distributor or someone that deals with a distributor, the prices are consistent with initial buy in.

Right now I think it is too high to rip for pure enjoyment. Those of you that bought in early, have fun ripping. I do and I guarantee this product will be over produced. THere is no way they can get all of those good cards in there without doing so. What do you think?

It will be interesting to see if cranking the presses results in more boxes and cases, or more loaded boxes and cases similar to 09 BCDP
