You hold the majority of your cards, which would look better scanned flat.

I guess its just an opinion, but I prefer to hold them, getting the best angle I can with as little glare as possible. For me, it's holding them rather than laying flat, just depends on the item, b/c I have lots of stuff . . without my fingers .

Maybe a scanner would work better, but all I have is a digital camera, so it's what works best for me. I wasn't really trying to justify it. Just showing a small example of what I do. For me, it works. I've sold successfully on there for 12 years, and honestly, that's the first time I've ever heard a complaint about it, I guess most buyers prefer great service and great cards rather than cropped pictures.

It hasn't ever affected my selling, so I'm ok with opinions different than my own. I could crop the majority of my fingers out of the pictures, but that's more of a time issue than anything else. As long as the actual buyer is happy with said card, I'll be happy.

I think it has more to do with the way it was listed rather than the way the picture/scan was taken. I bet if the guy had listed the card correctly then the sell prices would have been similiar.

no ill will. i just find it tacky. one of my biggest pet peeves is fingerprints on cards. even if the card is taken held at the edges or in a sleeve, i just want to chop away. but yes, hater me

Nah, just kidding. On the Griffey, I probably could have held out for more. I know its rare and probably on most Griffey need lists. I paid about the same price for the Clark when it finally got listed (well over $100), but I made a good profit. Move it into something else and try again.
