Why no Valle?

Matt Forman: Unfortunately, Philadelphia's front office doesn't usually inform me of its plans to trade prospects before they're shipped off. But it's safe to say scouts from outside the organization have cooled on Sebastian Valle, who ranked as this list's No. 7, 6 and 3 prospect each of the last three years. Valle fell in the 11-20 range this year, despite reaching Triple-A Lehigh Valley after the Tommy Joseph acquisition. Valle's approach — or almost complete lack thereof — knocked him down the list this year, along with the system's overall improvement. Valle has impressive raw power and strong defensive skills, but he doesn't profile as more than a big league backup if he's going to walk 10 out of every 300 at-bats. The Phillies' player development staff likes their catching depth, with Joseph and fellow backstop Cameron Rupp, all of whom will play at the upper levels of the minors in 2013. It'll be interesting to see how they all get at-bats.

That link is 10 yrs old

But pretty interesting reading elizado ramirez is better than howard & near hamels

What? It's old? :) It was quite interesting reading. That Chase Utley kid has potential.

I still remember trading Jimbo a Gold Ref Finest Lizard for my Gold Ref Finest Howard.

Ah well.

Just got hold of the NL Central Top 10 lists, and have typed them all in here for you all.

Here are the Cubs. I definitely didn't expect Jim Callis to include a 32-year old reliever on this list.

I'm also surprised there was no sign of Villanueva, Maples or Amaya.

BA's Organizational Top 10 Prospects List Official Thread (Cubs, Reds, Brewers, Pirates, Cards)

Thanks a ton, JP

Just a few things stood out:

The Cards best athlete is a pitcher. Come to think of it, the Mariners probably also hold that distinction.

It's so weird not seeing the Astros there.

Cards list looks fantastic. You're in great shape when Wacha is your 7th best prospect.

Cards list looks fantastic. You're in great shape when Wacha is your 7th best prospect.

BA considers them the top farm system in baseball at present.

My top 5 biggest surprise omissions from these five lists are as follows:

1) Christian Villanueva
2) Tanner Rahier
3) Dilson Herrera
4) Tyler Glasnow
5) Ariel Pena

J.P. - has Jed Bradley fallen that far, or was he just outside at 11 or 12 or something like that? He's not even listed in the Brewers 2016 rotation, where a lefty would fit in nicely. His first 2 months were pretty stellar last year, and then his last 10 starts he was awful every other time out, but there were still a couple of good starts mixed in there. Everything I read said that he checked out ok and was just shut down due to arm fatigue, so I was a bit surprised to see him not even listed anywhere.

Thanks for posting the results.
