MVP stands for Most Valuable Player, not Best Player in so and so League. That makes it a subjective award. And that is why Cabrera won. Of course he's not the best overall player in the A.L., but he was voted as being the most helpful in his team's success. The end.

There was a substantial difference in runs scored. Trout scored 20 MORE runs in 20 FEWER games than Cabrera.

God forbid that a lead off man were to get on base so he could be driven in by the cleanup hitters. Who drives in the cleanup hitter when the back end of the lineup decreases in hitting potential.
