This site has been around forever - bbonly.com aka Baseball Cards Only

Copying my post from the 90s facebook group:

tl;dr storytime special Thursday edition.

Have you ever just googled a specific card or set and seen the bbonly.com website come up as a result? I remember when I returned to the hobby ten years ago I found this site several times during my various searches, but found the listings kinda clunky. Never did pull the trigger on an order.

Yesterday I happen to find the site again. I start throwing darts and find a good card at a fair price. Then I find a Griffey refractor for a really good price. So I spend about the next five hours scouring their awkward listings and come up with a $250 order - I'll decipher the invoice here:

98 Finest Griffey No Protector Refractor
98 Finest Griffey No Protector parallel
01 Donruss Jeter Season Stat Line
06 Special F/X Jeter /50 for cheap
Titanium Gwynn /100
98 Choice Vlad - just a base card
94 Finest Buhner Refractor
98 Preferred Prized Grudz and Tino
98 Finest Franks - same as Griffey
98 Fractal Materials Papi Die-Cut /50
98 Fractal Materials Sample Nomo
three essential credentials
99 Finest Rolen GEMS Gold Refractor
01 Donruss Chipper Season Stat Line

After five hours of searching and placing the order, I get a message within 30 minutes saying he can't find the cards and refunds my money. I just spent five hours helping him identify cards he can sell elsewhere LOL Why does this site even exist?

If you try to order from this site - good luck.

I have had similar luck on the Beckett Marketplace. I've gone there a number of times to look for specific cards (I never use it for my primary card purchases) and both times I've decided to pull the trigger I get the "I must've sold the cards on another site or in store, sorry". To top it off, a few of the cards I've then seen pop up on Ebay.

First purchase was large, like 45 cards that were coming from 5 or 6 different sellers. ALL OF THE SELLERS replied with the "sorry" email and refunded my money.

Second time, a purchase of around 20 cards from 3 different sellers. Only one of the sellers came through with 2 cards. The other 18 cards, "sorry".
