Also if she has 15 years of dating experience and by my calculations she is 34 or so..... She didn't get a date until she was around 19?

admitting to 20 years of professional dating failure is far more embarrassing.

It's fun to see guys come in to the flickr, and disappear over time. I found a pic of her 30th Bday in june of 2006, so she will be 33 soon. How many members on here have Mom's that are that old or younger?

While I’m not a fan of the dating column idea, I find it funny yet sad that card boys get up in arms b/c of the “hobbit reference” yet readily insult this woman based on her appearance. Men insulting women based on appearance is about as original as tired yo mama insults. I guess now that more + more women are MORE educated + EARNING MORE than more + more men, men have to resort to the old “let’s insult her looks” game. Neither original nor classy.

Based on the card guys I see @ shows, I’m guessing most of the guys insulting her looks are NOT exactly in the league of OMG HOTTEST STUD YOU’VE EVER SEEN but are more in the league of OMG PLEASE BECOME FAMILIAR W/A SHOWER, DEODORANT, + A SHIRT THAT ISN’T STAINED W/NACHOS, HOTDOGS, ETC. Since it seems fair game to bash the woman based on her weight, perhaps some of the card guys here who are making those comments might want to look in the mirror b/c fellas, most of YOU are likely NOT the slimmest or hottest piece of beef out there.

On a deeper note, it’s sad to see beckett (+ card/grading cos.) continue to use the age old ploy of “let’s bring some chicks in tight outfits out.” That’s not going to bring more women into the hobby + it’s only going to creep out the “chicks” who have to stand around @ the card shows while the card boys drool over them + trot out such ~original~ lines as “hey, wanna do me?”

Btw, since when did 30 something become old? I realize all you fine young boys are the hottest studs around and have to fight off the supermodels left + right, but I’m guessing most of your flickr’s (and no, I’m not interested/bored enough to try to hunt/stalk them down LOL) probably contain some less than classy/hot pics.

As the father of two girls, I ask you to respectfully refrain from the harsh criticisms about her looks. It simply isn't nice and is far more damaging to her than you probably think.

As the father of two girls, I think I would shoot myself in the head if either of them start writing a dating advice blog for an online forum of baseball card collectors.

David

+1 to the classiest comment + classiest man on this thread. thank you david; it's always refreshing to see SOME class on this board.

I think you've missed the point here. She opened herself up for scrutiny when she referred to one of her dates as a hobbit. The hobbit comment comes across as shallow & she should have known better considering who her alleged target audience is. Would someone who writes an advice column for a muscle mag refer to guys that life weights as meat heads? Not if you want your column to succeed.

If people hate the “idea” like some have stated, why not insult the “idea” rather than focusing on her weight? Then again, I suppose the “he did it first, so I was right in doing it back” approach is far more mature. btw, i'm sure none of you fine gentlemen has ever referred to any of your dates in less than fond terms?

Not on a public forum, no. I think THAT shows a lack of class.

I'd do her ,but I've got low standards. Being in construction makes you love all women.

I understand what you are saying, I don't mean to be mean spirited just for the sake of being a jerk or internet bully. However, whether these posts have class or no class at all does not change the fact that this nerdy muffin top is being paid by Beckett to insult their own dwindling reader base. Being the "face" of this little endeavor leaves her open for ridicule. Obviously extreme physical beauty is not a prerequisite for giving relationship advice, there's plenty of examples of that. I simply don't appreciate the assumptions that are being made by the very existence of the column itself.

I said in my first post that I know I am not physical delight, that is why I would never go straight out and start insulting people. If I were to I would expect to be bashed for it. She was the one in a column to win over card collectors decided to hit on every negative stereotype and bash them.

I bashed her age because you shouldn't try to act like some hip dating girl when probably 40% of the audience is half your age. I am thirty, and can talk about things like cards with people of any age because it's something universal. If people who were between 18 and 20 years my junior started talking about their dating habits now, or music or anything that is a generational area topic wise, I know I could not do it. If you weren't around when Cobain died, and remember it, it's hard for me to relate.

My fiancee is 24, and there are pictures out there of her, I love her and put her above others. I'm not attacking women at all, just this one because she attacked us originally.

Oh yeah, I forgot, my picture is in a ton of different sigs on this site. People could say I'm a lumpy mess that looks like he is humping a stuffed bear in it, and I'd think it was funny. I also am not doing a column to judge people on a fairly large website.

If she would have perused this FCB thread, she would have realized that card collectors have evolved from "cellar dwelling trolls" (not that they all ever were) to normal everyday, sometimes even good looking people. WHAT A SHOCK! I think she had a few bad experiences with some trolls, but that in no way reflects on the majority of us collectors. That said, to belittle her is acting exactly like the people she WAS talking about. There is no reason for it. If what she said insulted you, then are you not the exact type of person she was refering to??? I was not insulted in the least, because I know who I am. Has anyone even thought that she might read this someday? I find some of the things people have said in here to be insulting in a mean-spirited kind of way, and I want her to know that in no way are these people speaking for all of us.

My reaction was more the "they can't talk to our pledges like that, only we can!!" Reaction!
