I'll go with Verlander too as far as pure velocity plus nastiness.

This is a guy who throws triple digits into the 8th and 9th innings (the final pitch of his no-hitter in 2007 was 102mph). I know lots of people can hit triple digits now, but how many of them can do it for 9 innings?!??

This is also a guy who has one of the hardest breaking curveballs in the Majors. Throw in an above average to plus changeup and you've got yourself a true ace with some of the best pure stuff in the Major Leagues.

Mine is a contemporary player: Clayton Kershaw.

I was at BP before a Dodger's game last year and Kershaw and Kuo were long-tossing. Kershaw was near the left foul pole (where I was standing) and Kuo was in dead center on the warning track. With a simple step and throw Kershaw's toss looked like a laser from his hand to Kuo's glove. The ball was never higher than Kuo's head and Kershaw made the throw look effortless.
