If you can get back issue stuff, since you like retired guys look into pre 2006 stuff.
My vote goes to 2005 UD Classics.

Two GU, an auto and a few numbered cards a box I believe and they are all retired guys.

Cuts are possible too and a box has 28 packs and should run well under $100

What kind of card shop doesn't have singles? That's crazy.

for 100 dollars you can get like 400 packs of ramen noodles

Actually, according to my calculations, you could get 588 packs of ramen noodles for $100. My WalMart sells em for .17 per.

Probably a lot more value there than buying $100 worth of wax.

Besides, you collect Carlton, right?

Well, why not spend it on these instead?

Along with UD Classics, I would keep an eye out for 2005 UD Origins. Two memorabilia cards, 1 on-card autograph (I believe they fell one per tin,) one nostalgic tin sign topper, and the box (tin) is collectible as well (covers feature is Cobb, Wagner, Walter Johnson, or Jeter.
