If you can get back issue stuff, since you like retired guys look into pre 2006 stuff.
My vote goes to 2005 UD Classics.

Two GU, an auto and a few numbered cards a box I believe and they are all retired guys.

Cuts are possible too and a box has 28 packs and should run well under $100

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this box! I did so well with it. Even pulled a Mike Schmidt Auto!
