Just bought a brand new Rawlings gold glove series mitt, and it is pretty darn stiff. What is the best way to break it in?

i Put a ball in it with rubber bands around it when i wasnt using it.

Then use glove oil.

then use it a lot =]

it'll take a couple months to get fully broken in

No better advice than this. Stay away from shaving cream, microwaves, cars and anything non catch related that people suggest.

agreed, use use and more use is the only way to break it in

Sure my friend ran over his catchers mitt with his car and it worked well, but if you want the best and natural close then using it is the way to go

Rubber band around it w/ a baseball in it
Just keep throwing a ball into it when your around the house
Use some foam "Dr. Glove" conditioner and rub it in to make it softer and protect it from the beginning
Toss alot with it on to break it in

This is exactly true because you want the glove to close to the shape of a ball, but if you flatten it- the ball might not go in every time because of the shape. Definetely only break it in by using it Ian

My first base glove used to be really tight but at a minor league game I rubbed some boiled peanuts on it and it really helped for some odd reason.

i have always used a 3 step process... my gloves are always broke in and soft.

1. wet glove place ball in glove bound glove tight with rubber bands
2. ****** glove with oil and work work glove over good then place under car tire for the night
3. play catch daily with a penny ball (tennis ball with a slit in it that you stuff pennies in)
