Just bought a brand new Rawlings gold glove series mitt, and it is pretty darn stiff. What is the best way to break it in?

agreed, use use and more use is the only way to break it in
Sure my friend ran over his catchers mitt with his car and it worked well, but if you want the best and natural close then using it is the way to go
