BGS Introduces the "Single Grade" Card Grading Option

A single grade for a card; no subgrades. (And the autograph grade remains as is.)

And it's simply an option - it's not replacing the usual service.

Wonder if this is in response to those who devalue cards without gem centering?

I'm guilty of preferring 9.5 centering but it normally doesn't stop me from buying gems anyway...

Considering a BGS 9.5 with all 9.5 or 10 subs sells for more than one with a "9" sub (and you can no longer tell which applies using this option), I think I'll pass. This service seems more appropriate for those with PCs who intend to will them to their grandkids.

More info - they confirmed to me the Black Label Pristine will still be attainable using this option. Only difference is, now you'll have no idea why it didn't make the cut.

Update - they just now tweeted that all BGS 10's will in fact contain subgrades, no matter what.
