Not sure why this needs to be posted over here as well, but after having read it, I don't think UD has really done much wrong. You had high hopes, paid your $, and lost. Time to move on to the next product. It's like losing your shirt in Vegas, getting your room comped, then complaining that the room wasn't overlooking the strip (or something similar).

Is there any kind of guarantee for more than one patch/auto?

If not, it was just a bad box....something we all risk.

I do agree that one hit for $500+ is weak, but that's something that should be considered before purchasing the product.

Edit:

From Dave and Adam's Card World:

Box Breakdown
On average each box of 2008/09 Exquisite Basketball contains:
*1 Autographed Rookie Patch
*1 Autographed Card
*1 Memorabilia or Autographed Card
*1 Base Set Card
*1 Additional Autographed, Memorabilia, Parallel, or Base Card

So, he only got one "hit" (not counting the plate) and should have gotten at least two more. But, they did send another patch/autograph, when they could have sent a junk GU card.

From eBay:

BOX BREAKDOWN
- 1 Autographed Rookie Patch, 1 Autographed Card, 1 Memorabilia or Autographed Card, 1 Base Set Card and 1 additional Autographed, Memorabilia, Parallel, or Base Card!

So it looks like he got his autographed patch card, but was shorted an autographed card, presuming that the press plate card replaced the memorabilia card. UD then sent him another autographed rookie patch card and triple jersey card as a replacement (guess the plate wasn't the substitute for the mem. card).

While I hate UD with a passion, and it certainly seems like their hand-picked collation was bad, they did attempt to make it right.

I was originally thinking something similar (getting a free lap dance, then complaining about the c-section scar of the dancer), but wasn't sure how that would fly around here.

If you buy a large pizza and open the box to find a shoe, do you get a refund or exchnge? yes.

If you buy a two liter of Coke and inside is water, you get a refund or exchange.

Refunds dont exist in the sports card world, no dealer will refund the $600 becase the company wont refund the dealer EVENTHOUGH IT S THE COMPANY'S (UD) FAULT 100 PERCENT.

So the only other option is a sort of exchange. UD didnt want the cards back, so they agreed to send replacements to MAKE GOOD ON THEIR ERROR. The problem is that they sent $40 worth of "make good" cards and still are lacking big time.

It wasnt what was IN the pack, it was what was MISSING, as in 3-4 OTHER mem/auto cards.

If there was an MJ auto patch card /23 (instead of the Hickson), he STILL would have a right to complain as it still would be lacking 3-4 other mem / autos.

The problem is there are dozens of people who get screwed by UD, they open up a box and get
shafted, but there are also dozens of people who get what they should, but then try to cheat
the system and say they got shafted. How does UD know who is telling the truth and who is
lying? The risk you take putting down a car payment for cardboard.

He got ****** on the box, and that's the risk. But UD shouldn't have reps telling people what they want to hear, only to just do whatever they want anyway.

It's not about UD's CS in this instance, but in general, I hate when I can tell CS is just telling you what you want to hear to get you off the phone. Just give him the party line: "we'll send you something in an attempt to make up for the missing items." Don't say what the rep said and then send crap. Say you're sending what you can.

Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

I used to say that too, and that's a good point.

Customer service at upper deck is some high school graduate who may or may not know anything about sports cards. They responded to his complaint, and he's still complaining.

They've addressed the issue. There are NO guarantees in any pack, you are a sucker for believing that. Once that case leaves the UD factory, ANYBODY could have tampered with that pack or any other pack. Honestly, it's out of their hands once it's out of the factory.

Try getting in touch with some government agencies when it comes to reimbursements- good luck even getting a live person on the phone after hours of telephone prompts.

He got a bad pack, we're SORRY for you, that's it, end of story. Don't buy exquisite again.

I'll continue to buy it cause I feel my good packs far outweigh my bad packs.

I'm not complaining about pulling a Kevin Garnett patch auto/50 as my "case hit". There are no guarantees of case hits.

I just get really irritated when I hear that they went out of their way to give him some extra hits, and he's even more bitter than before just because he didn't get his factitious "stated odds".

Everything that is "guaranteed" is always "subject to change". Take that into consideration before blowing $575 on a pack of sports cards.

But you didn't find a shoe in your pizza box. Ignoring the whole "stated odds" mumbo-jumbo, what you found in your box was that your meatlover's pizza arrived without any meat on it. You complained that you didn't get the toppings as indicated, and so they sent you some toppings. Sorry you didn't like the toppings...

Who want's to split a pizza with me now? I haven't eaten all day.

LOL, he ordered the meat lover's pizza with double meat, and got all the meat, but just not enough sausage to satisfy his means. So the high school kid forgot to put more sausage on the pizza. He called the shop, and the delivery guy brought some more sausage, but just not "enough". So he's still upset and won't ever order the meat lover's pizza with double meat from the joint again. The pizza shop didn't SCREW him, he just had too high expectations from the pizza parlor. Come on, it's just Pizza!!   Plus the Coke didn't have enough bubbles in it, I suppose........   Ok, I think I'm getting pizza for dinner tonight as well...

I'm with you guys on the fact that it is a gamble and you really can't complain......but the only reason he may have an argument is because it is Exquisite - and it is "hand-collated". So it is a case where the odds should not be an issue and UD is the one that taughts that every box is hand-packed to ensure value.....now granted "value" does not mean double the value, or even the secondary market price....but i'd think that it means you are not shorted a hit and in most cases there is at least a semi-decent card, or a star player auto or jsy card.
