Wow, these are starting to fetch over 3K. I want to jump off a cliff.

Did you sell the one in your sig?

Yup. Late December. Along with 3 Court Kings, 1 Donruss Classics, and 1 NT /299 autos. FML

Ouch... Still you made $ 8-)

I was so close to sending it in to BGS to have it slabbed a 9, but I was so broke I couldn't afford to keep it. If only I had 30K worth of playing money, oh the damage I could do.

Vince Carter's SP rookie serial-numbered to his jersey number sold for around $14K 10 or so years ago. It was a different ball game then and a BGS 9.5 was a tough grade.

That was me!! ;) It was 12k plus 5k in cards.
I probably still have a tattered eBay screen printout of that sale somewhere.

Definitely a different era for grading, VC and rookie cards.

During 99-00 and 00-01, these years after the lockout garnered more people into basketball. It was like a fresh outlook. That coupled with the huge dot com boom also brought a shitload of money into the market place for cards and comics. You had these late 20s and early 30s people with tons of cash (from dot com) looking to buy up stuff they collected. They were spending like no tomorrow. Beckett grading was huge and impossible to get gold labels. They were also charging your crazy $40 /grade on 25 day service. Kobes during this time were taking off. 96 Chrome finally caught on as it was a retail only product.

98-99 also has a huge following. 98-99 was the year of the lockout. Card production was minimal. What was out there was busted because of the VC hype 2 yrs later. So the product is limited and all busted. You dont see much of it out there. Thats why the jordans from 98-99 that were numbered are going for insane amounts. Its actually very limted to 97-98, 98-99 and 99-00. This was all followed by the Yao Ming crazy in the next year.

There were some huge cards graded that sold during this time as well. A few off the top of my head...
-First BGS 9.5 Jordan rookie hit the market bringing in like 250k-
-BGS 9.5 Kobe chromes were hitting huge $$ with the refractors reaching the $10k level
-High grades on the 96 EX 2000 Kobe rc and the credentials was fetching top dollars
-Top 3 VCs (SPX Spectrum 5/25, SPX 5/2500 & SPA 5/3500).
-Topps redemption drafts were becoming popular
-Late 90s was the era of serially numbered paralells and the start of Autos.

As a long time Clips fan(yes we are around) I am kicking myself for not buying any Blakes. Too many second thoughts even when he was cheap, mainly cause I would think of Shaun Livingston and most recently Greg Oden.

I do have an Absolute RPM Auto that I pulled though. Basically got it for nothing cause I sold the Tyreke 1/1 tag that I pulled along with it. :D

I had the same fears!! Also, when I really felt like pursuing a Griffin auto, I couldn't find one for sale that I liked. Ugh, luckily I did buy some Eric Gordon's during the off season though.

Still shocks me...

I do remember pulling a BLAKE GRIFFIN 09-10 COURT KINGS AUTO RC BGS 9.5 in one of the Razor Retros, and sold it for $75... Now it's probably worth $400 ::facepalm::

Its an on card autograph.
Its, in my opinion, his coolest looking autographed card. (Other than national treasure).
Its numbered relatively low.
These will dry up. Just watch.

Anywhere from 275-300 is a great buy depending on your future plans with the card.
I didn't buy mine for the PC.....

Has anybody been tracking the prices of 09/10 boxes? I would have to assume they sky-rocketed and there is not much available on blowout or atlanta sports cards.

most things up 50-75% in the last 10 days.

D&A still has court kings for $63 which is probably a bargain at this point.

The question is, are all these bids legit, or just another one of those Jordan insert fake hype....?

I hope it's not the case of one guy owning 20 of these cards and trying to build fake hype, ya know. It's hard for me to believe most hype these days, not my fault that there are shaddy people out there.

I have no doubt that the sales are real. This is just Strasburg mania all over again.

See, most times it can become real. All it takes it a few guys getting together and biidding auctions up and making fake best offer sales and then it takes off from there. Then you have the people who actually believe it come in and "invest" in hopes that it will double and triple.... When in reality, once the fake bids and sales are over they start to decline....

Look at the Blake Griffin NT jersey number that just sold on ebay with "best offer" for $9800 I believe. Yeah sure, I believe that best offer is totally real and when it becomes for sale very shortly I shouldn't have a problem bidding at least 8K because after all it sold for $9800!!! You see what i'm saying?

Can I state with 100% fact that these are fake bids and sales? Of course not, don't have any real evidence, but with enough work one could find evidence.... It's just a shame when the poor fools who fall into fake hype and get taken for $100's and $1,000's only to sell the cards later for 10% what they paid  Now if you're buying a card to hold forver because you just love it and wanna pay whatever it takes to get it then go right ahead, but I don't think that the legit bids are being placed because people really want the card, I think the actual legit bids are being placed because of all the fake ones....

Just my 2 cents

I think sometimes our little hobby community loves the conspiracy theory. Sure there could be some funny business going on, but his cards have exploded across the board from base rookies to mid range to high end. Everything has gone crazy. Maybe people are playing games, but the volume of stuff that they would have to manipulate is so great it seems hard to believe. We've seen it in the past with other players in basketball and other sports, so I don't know why not to believe in this.

All I can say about the low and mid range selling high... maybe because lots of people are falling for the high prices of the higher end stuff and they can't afford to go that high but they still want SOMETHING, anythng Blake Griffin, so their all scrambling to get their hands on whatever they can afford....

Like I said, do I believe all bids and sales are fake? No! But................ ^^^^^^
