I gotta say this over and over again. I love our new GM Anthopolous he has balls and isnt affraid to make a deal. I love the direction this team is going in with the youth and the highly talented youth i should say. League is a good reliever but man I watch this guy every year and he'll be unbeatable one day and the next day its like just retire from baseball. I'm happy about Morrow he has alot of potential. Could this mean Cecil gets traded for a SS???

That's what I'm hearing now....that would be MONEY!!!!

And let me just say, I am still a Morrow fan, and never gave up on him. I also don't know if Jack Z is giving up on him, but there really isn't the place for him.

He doesn't fit as a starter any more as the M's already have three guys who'll be fighting for the last two spots (Snell, Fister, French). He doesn't fit in as a closer (Aardsma), and they have Fields in the minors being developed into the role also. And I think he's got way too much talent to be stuck as a middle reliever.

On top of it, it also gets rid of one of the last "screw up's" from the Bavasi era...drafting Morrow over a local-scrawy boy named Tim Lincecum.

Don't believe Stewart has been confirmed yet but sounds like it may be him. I'd certainly like the trade less than if it were Cooper or Arencibia but now it seems like a pretty fair swap. My guess is that AA doesn't see Stewart as a starter and does for Morrow.

I can see League flourishing in Seattle. His peripherals are incredible. He should be a top line closer but he just hasn't quite put it all together yet. Bit of a ten-cent head, I think.

EDIT: Now the Jays MLB.com beat writer is saying he "doubts" it's Stewart. Who knows......

FoxSports is saying Brian Jeroloman's name was discussed. I can't imagine Stewart's involved if they were tossing around the likes of Jeroloman. In prospect status, the only thing those two have in common is that neither has been in my living room.

If it's Jeroloman, it'd make sense since he's a catcher, but that is a horrible deal.

If it's Chavez, that just doesn't make sense. The M's do NOT need another minor league outfielder.

I really hope neither is true, because the M's could have gotten so much more for Morrow...ugh.

Well that certainly makes more sense from the M's standpoint than Jeroloman did.

Funny, there are few Jays prospects I've followed more closely than Chavez simply because he's been tough to pinpoint. He had a breakout year in 2009 in repeating Lo-A ball. Killed the league average slash line and hit 21 homers. He still strikes out a ton but lowered in a fair bit last year and he has a good ISO. He'll be 21 next month and should start in Hi-A.

Hardball Times ranked him their #1 Jays prospect back in November which was a stretch. Over at Batter's Box, where I'm part of the writing staff, we ranked him #12.

I had actually just started to draft an article on Chavez. Guess that can be put to bed.

If any M's fans have any questions about him, let me know. I've always thought of him as someone who's unlikely to put it all together but if he does he'll enjoy a long career with the possibility of a .825-850 OPS at his peak.

All in all, I love the trade AA made. League is certainly better than advertised but doesn't fit into the Jays timetable right now. Morrow still has that possibility of the top of the rotation so it's a gamble I love. Reminds me a lot of McGowan, right down to the diabetes.

It was pretty funny reading a couple of boards (USS Mariner and MLB Trade Rumors) where people were initially speculating that Wallace, Snider, or even Lind were the 'prospect'.
