Its a good Pickup for the Braves. Schafer is struggling. Wonder what is going to happen to him now?

I was hoping Braves would go after Luke Scott =/

Baltimore probably wanted Heyward and Morton. Baltimore scout was looking at Morton with another scout but couldn't find out what organization, maybe it was Pittsburgh.

After a deal like this, how can you be a Pirates fan? He's the only guy in the lineup who is exciting to watch, and at 27 and entering his prime, earning a mere $5 mill a year, you dump him for a couple pitching prospects and a mediocre outfielder. The Pirates actually have a decent staff at this point, why trade your only offensive weapon like this? Horrible...

I know Schafer was sent down.. doesn't mean he isn't in the picture for the team. On a side note.. going to AAA Gwinnett on Sunday to see Austin Jackson

With Medlen and Hanson up. Who's the Braves top 5 pitchers in the minors now?

Spruill
Devall
Teheran
Kimbrel
Roughbourgh

Pretty much the list I would have made. Hopefully Erik Cordier is on some people's radar by the end of the year. I don't think people realize he's the same age as Rohrbough. ;P

That is pretty much the only people I could think of that were having decent years.

Are you insinuating that Gorkys is a super stud?

What's the implication? If I'm a Pirates fan, I'm supposed to run home and get excited because we traded our best player for a kid who hit .264 in A ball and has already been dealt once before for EDGAR RENTERIA? What's Gorkys ceiling? Best case scenario, he's a faster McLouth with less power. At the end of the day, your attempt at being a smart ass was made in vain.

Edit: Thank you Yaka, I'm glad I'm not the only one left scratching my head, because since I DO watch baseball, I know that McLouth is already a helluva player

I saw the Pirates play the Braves at PNC earlier this year. It was Maholm vs Jurrjens, and Maholm was leading the league in ERA at the time. Man, I've seen tee ball games that were more exciting.

I'll go a bit further, actually. I went to 32 Tigers games in 1996. You remember how bad that team was. THOSE games were a heck of a lot more interesting than Braves-Pirates.

Nice park though.

Edgar Osuna has been pretty darn good for the Pelican's this year. He's got the 2nd lowest ERA on the Myrtle Beach staff. Cordier having the lowest (shameless plug) :P

Nope, just above mediocre. Mediocre is Gregor Blanco. Gorkys is a good player and a GREAT defensive player.

I was only referring to the bold, ya know, something that's done very commonly on this board. Saying that Gorkys is mediocre shows enough to me that I shouldn't even being making this argument. Until a week ago, he was hitting close to .350 in his first stint in AA. I'll agree that it wasn't a great deal for the Pirates, but Gorkys is far from mediocre. I fail to see how my attempt to be a smart ass was in vain.

I didn't realize Edgar Osuna's fastball sat between 82-86. How's he rack up the K's? The next Jamie Moyer?
