There are tons of instances of athletes sticking around one year too long and tarnishing their rep - remember Joe Namath in a Rams uniform? How about Willie Mays in Mets threads? Or how Chuck Liddell lost 5 of his final 7 fights...the list goes on and on

But has there ever been a worse (and hilarious) exit than Brett Favre? Last year, he statistically had his best season and came within a play of reaching the Super Bowl. This season, he had his worst season statistically. He was constantly knocked out of games. His consecutive games streak came to an end. His team finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs. Evidence came out proving not only his he a *********, but he's also a scumbag with the Sterger **** pics. And now, there's a good chance we'll see an "Eff You Brett Favre" Super Bowl, matching his two former teams, the Packers and the Jets.

Seriously, has there ever been a more pathetic exit than this?

Poor comparison. Wrestling isn't a sport.

Although I'll admit, wigging out and murdering your family then killing yourself is pretty damned impressive

Dale Murphy's final two years are sad =(

he was mainly a pinch hitter and I don't think he topped 30 games either season

Honestly, what did you expect?

He said numerous times he didn't want to come back. He was unsure if his body was fully healed or if he had the support to take another season.

The front office disregarded his words and kept TJack as their #2. The rest of the team saw the error in their ways and begged and pleaded with Favre to come back.

What would you do if your friends put you in that position?

It was all in his suicide note, along with his numerous requests from Cash4Gold that were denied. Rumor has it that is what really threw him over the edge.

I can't see him coming back. I know he has a huge ego, but I think even he knows it's time to hang 'em up.

Mickey Mantle's last few years were hard to watch--per my dad, but at least he was loyal to the Yankees and the Yankees were loyal to him.

With his, "I know I want to play, but I want everyone to kiss my ass and talk about me on TV before I'll show up and I don't want to go training camp," attitude make me not even care about this season, last season, or the season before that. Don't go away emo Brett, just go away.

Worst exit ever.

To me, there's a difference between your body failing you or your stats dropping because you played too long and just losing all dignity as a human being. Favre did the latter.
