I think the ump got really lucky, looked like Lawrie was about an inch from heaving that helmet right into his face lol . He looked like he was realizing as he went to throw it that he was making a big mistake.

Watched it live, two of the worst strike calls I have ever seen. Rodney's point up to the sky at the end was over the top too. I was hoping one of the over head lights world fall from the top of the dome and crush that idiot.

no games. The ground hit the ump with the helmet, not lawrie. ;)

The umps have been absolutely horrible all season long. That said, he's looking at 10 games minimum.

That's minimum 10 games, and I don't think they let that get appealed down at all. And Lawrie is a moron for taking off on both of those pitches like that, especially after not getting the call of the first one.

The first call was questionable. It had some movement, and if the ump had been giving a wide outside corner all night it might've stuck. But the second was just for Lawrie showing up on on the first call.

Wow what a circus. Lawrie showed him up twice and umped showed him who was boss.
Looks like the ump had a sailor mouth and wow that fan throwing beer at him was just icing on the cake.
Bet that fan spent a night in jail for it to.

10 Games. Also, balls and strikes will be called by machines within 10 years.

Can't wait!

Not only is there way too much "political" crap that goes on, it's annoying how an ump will call the same pitch in the same location during the same at bat differently.

watching that at bat - I don't blame Lawrie for blowing up, but he shouldn't have thrown his helmet. I would have been pissed too.

amazing how easy this would be to do now.
and a lot cheaper than paying the ump his 1000 a game
or whatever they get. and batters just could not argue,
cus math doesnt lie.

I wish ump's would get fined and suspended more often for being absolutely horsesh**. Too many times, and it seems, the past few years, has umpiring been god awful brutal. Get all the guys that think they know everything out and bring people in who won't be ******* if a player reacts.

I too say 10-15 games w/an appeal by Lawrie.

Those calls were horrible. 10 games im sure. Was it a long game? Did the ump just wanna end the game already?

I can't believe people are sticking up for Lawrie here.
Who cares if the ump blew a call, it happens in much bigger situations than this.
He needs to learn some class from Armando Galaraga. One of these times when guys hit crap or throw stuff some freak accident is going to happen. I guess that is what it will take for these "men" to stop acting like my 2 year old.
