He is frustrated with how people are treating him... and he has no pressure on him yet. He is just a kid playing a game we would all love to play for a living. If anything.... that interview told me that he needs to stay in HS.... this is going to lead to nothing but trouble for this young kid.

Good piece. I'm glad they addressed the doubts about "can't miss" prospects and showed clips of his whiffing and passed balls, as well as the story of Ben McDonald. I was thinking this could turn out to be a one-sided story at first, but it seemed to be balanced overall.

Haha, sucks to be a kid in college that is going to transfer because he needs to be a chaperone. So much for living your own life...

I have ZERO respect left for Donte Stallworth... Listening to that 911 call I wanted to puke.
He looks high in the interview for gods sake...

"i only had two margaritas" what a joke

this guy should be in jail. and i agree that 911 call was pretty bad.

Says people who obviously have no knowledge of the case. If he isn't an NFL player, he probably does no jail time. The guy ran out in front of him, nothing he could do.

That's how I feel, regardless if he was drunk or sleep deprived, the guy ran out from nowhere in front of him and got hit. I wish you could see the video and see what REALLY happened.

Why it's alot smarter than just letting him hang out with 18-21 year old guys who he doesn't know and won't mentor him. I think it's smart of them to do that because he can't go off and become Josh Hamilton before he even gets drafted.

Yeah, but thats not my point. His brother was a D1 pitcher it makes no sense for him to transfer to a community college. What my point is either he made the decision his self or his parents made him transfer just for Bryces sake. If his parents made him give up his dreams just to help bryce out. I would tell them to **** off... If it was his idea than I think its great that he made the sacrifice.

I'm sure Northridge will just pick him right back up and he'll get another year there too. He may have been told by Bryce or their parents that he'd get some $$$$ if he went and helped his bro out and made sure he didn't f up.

Also, I get a real chuckle at those chumps like the Oakland (I think) newspaper writer who say he's making a horrible decision and that he shouldn't leave HS early. Harper is making the best possible decision he could. He is cashing in early, as he should. More power to him.

Some of the best college pitchers recently have been out of Community college. I know the pitcher who was a Cape League All Star for my team was out of a CC, Chris Sale who is probably league's top prospect for pitchers was a JuCo kid too.

His brother probably isn't exactly a prospect, maybe he is projectable or has a great arm though I don't know. His line on the year isn't too good:

32.1ip, 6.68era, 46 hits, 22bb, 15k, 5hr allowed, 6wp, 4hbp.

It probably makes great sense for him to transer. He may not get much PT at Northridge, who knows. He'll probably get alot more at JuCo.

For those unaware, this Sunday's AFLAC game will be televised on FoxSports. Harper will be one of the participants. I believe it starts at 8 pm EST.

Maybe Bryce actually did make this decistion himself. Maybe Brian chose to transfer and help his little brother out. Maybe the parents aren't insane puppet masters that some people seem to think.

By the way, what do you think gets you more attention? Playing at Cal St. Northridge, or playing at one of the top Juco programs in the country, where every game will be inundated with scouts and other baseball people?

Weird that they schedule the Fenway All Star game that Bryce was announced for on the same day as AFLAC.

If he is a latin player, he's already been signed by the Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers. What's the big deal if he comes out at 16? Latin players do it and it's no big deal.

It doesn't take much interaction with him to realize that he is clearly not a "typical" 16-year-old.

As far as his brother goes...this will be the only time he can play on the same team with his brother realistically...so that's a decent enough reason for most older brothers. My brother and I had one opportunity to play hockey together and he took it...so that makes perfect sense to me.

Regardless, no one knows the future for Harper...but most of us are curious.

This is exactly what I was thinking... older brother might get a TON more exposure being with kid brother. I know I would have loved to play ball with my kid brother when we were younger and if that could help me get noticed as well, then thats even better.

Preface - I know nothing about the older brother or where he pitches, so he might have been doing well enough on his own.... just my quick observation.

Casey

edited to fix my quote of JP, it was bugging me that I did it wrong, lol.

Someone posted his stats and he had like a 7 ERA last year so it'll help the exposure for sure.
