I would move him to Fresno with Posey so they can work together and Madison can develop his secondary pitches a little more. If the Giants stand a chance to win the division or the wild card in August it might be worth bringing Madison up for the pen.

I don't see the point in a 2009 call-up, especially just to put him in the bullpen. An inexperienced reliever isn't going to help them win the division or wild card either.

.... because David Price didn't help the Rays last year.

I'd like to see Bumgarner take the season to work on things in AA or AAA before he's marched out to face professional hitters. Price was on a faster track than Bumgarner so I don't mind his call up to the pen late last year.

But comparing the last year's Rays versus this year's Giants...c'mon scuba!

"Now, says Sabean, Posey needs to catch higher-level pitchers to take the next step towards the majors. The GM noted that a jump to AAA would allow Posey to improve faster"

Hmmm, I've been saying this for months! I know your guys' argument that A ball will help just as much and has better instructors, but my original though is finally happening :P

And wow I was just thinking they should give Bumgarner a shot after sanchez's dissapointing start yesterday (I really do want sanchez to succeed).

Edit: But i think they should give pucetas a chance, especially after his performance in spring training.

lol.... I said if the Giants were in the position to make the playoffs I could see it happening. What I neglected to mention is that I don't see the Giants being in that position (unless the trade for some bats) making this all a moot point.

Puck gets the call before Bumgarner for the starting role.

When I told you I saw this coming about 45 days ago, you said "no way," and that Alderson would beat him there. :?
Why are they just focusing on Bumgarner? Alderson is just as good if not better. But I agree with the don't rush them opinion that has been stated.
Alderson - 3-1 1.82 ERA 34 s/o's in 39.2 IP
Bumgarner - 4-1 2.13 ERA 33 s/o's in 38 IP
