matchpenalty said:The one who gets paid with Burbanks brilliant business model is Ebay. They love it. Have a seller listing over a quarter a million monthy listings, where 2% sell at a wopping average of $15 A SALE.

I wish they'd be a little lower, but even a little lower I could not afford them. It sucks, you know. You want to get a good price on a card, but you want it to be "WORTH" another price. Thus the tangled web we weave...
I won't go as far as saying it's a good business model, though. It's wacky. Just think how many lifelong customers they'd get if they were close to normal!! Not only singles, but People would buy boxes....cases....from a reputable dealer. They could have a real nice reputation. Instead, I don't think they have the best reputation. They have great cards, but a bad reputation. How is that good business?
I am not whining about the prices....like I said, even a little lower I could not afford them and another Gwynn collector (or set collector) would get them. Either way I can't afford them! It's nothing that I personally sweat.

Sure everyone would love to have the amount and quality of Burbank but to say they have a crappy business model because they won't sell it to you for what you think is a fair price isn't really justified. I love Burbank because I know cards that I have only seen one copy of will likely be sitting there when I decide I want to add it to my collection.
