They have just about everything, but their prices are always high and they don't negotiate, but something that bothers me more is that most of their auctions they don't have scans.

I spent $30 not even knowing what it was going to look like..tough call. But I have seen enough other red rubies, that I had an idea, but still taking a risk i wouldn't like the design.

Well got it in the mail today, and I am quite pleased.

Glad you liked the card. I have been hesitant to buy anything from them, because they have such a huge stock that they don't have time to scan their cards. I just asked to see their Bagwell cards from a particular set, and they didn't sesem to have the time. So - I ended up spending my money elsewhere.

They annoy me too, because their prices are so high and they have the gall to expect you to pay a premium price, sight unseen. Unfortunately, they have quite a few cards that I need. I haven't broken down yet. That's a cool card though; glad it worked out for you.

I quit high school and moved out of the house when I was 16 where I worked at the #1 Bobs Big Boy in Glendale California, where they had carhops, and my job was a "Fountain boy", where I made drinks and deserts for the carhops.
I got a couple promotions and was a day shift manager at 18 years old.

I then up and quit without notice and moved to bellevue, washington on a whim on a request from my sister. I had a tough time finding a job, and soon became a bellboy for a large hotel...tips were great, usually getting a buck a bag, and they had big turnovers there, lots of conventions.

Then at the age of 19, i joined the navy, where i did computer maintenance as a Data Systems (DS) rating no longer exists.

And I have been in computers ever since (32 years in computers), working mostly for government contractors.

I would recommend the military for anyone. Gives you the opportunity to get training in a field you want, they pay to train you, and you get the opportunity to see the world.

Although I made most of my money in real estate, but I do have my budget, so don't think i spend unlimited, far from being wealthy. I just keep my collection below $40K at all times, selling, and refining what I like. It's a cheap hobby. If I wasn't doing this, I probably would have blown $40K in the bars a long time ago.

i will be at the actual store in about 2 weeks

I grew up next door in Glendale, Ca....I wish I was into collecting back then. I didn't even get into collecting until the Padres had their one and only chance in the world series (1998), and I started collecting just padres first...needless to say it is a rare occasion that I pick up a padre card anymore (I think i have just a couple lonely gwynn and a trevors). Let us know how the store is, and if they are as "cold" in person as on ebay...I may visit my old neighborhood again.

I'm hoping to get into real estate eventually but not as an agent. I grew up around contractors and in the construction business and have a ton of contacts so I'm hoping to eventually buy fixer upers in good neighborhoods then fix and sell for a profit. That's definitely a long term goal though. For now I'm just trying to find an entry level gig. I have my 3rd interview with Enterprise Rent a Car for their management trainee program next week. Gotta start somewhere! :D

Yea, I am always hesitant, but have bought a ton from them. I even told them recently that I have spent a lot from them, and that most of their prices are high, but some are just too ridiculous that they will never get what they are asking, and offered them a fair price on a lot of about 5 cards, and they simply said their prices are firm. I didn't buy those cards, and I am willilng to wait on them (more cards for my 99 international refractor set).

I just think Randy Johnson cards are very undervalued, that he is highly underated, and consider him one of the top 6 pitchers of all time IMHO. I know many people don't like him because of his character, but he has a hell of a work ethic, and I have a lot of respect for him in his pitching talent of years past. So even with burbanks higher prices, I think RJ's prices are realistic.

He and Maddux will go down as the best of this generation. Clemens screwed his chance at that title.

If you don't mind my asking, which Bagwells have you bought from them? Can I see scans?

Thanks!

While their prices are crazy and the no scan policy sucks, I have had great luck with them. I have not had an issue with condition of cards so far, actually I have had some very nice cards come from Burbank. Here are a few:

1998 Stadium Club Illuminator(labeled wrong)

1997 Finest Embossed Gold Refractor
1997FINESTEMBGOLDREF.jpg

1997 Pinnacle Certified Platinum Gold
1997PINTOTCERTGOLD106.jpg

(Not mine, Fandruw25's, but he bought it from Burbank. He had a few other 9.5's from them as well I believe)

That bothers the crap out of me too.
They always have mid-grade '58 Topps that I need for my set, for good prices, but they don't post scans of the cards.

Take a shot at a few, their shipping I believe is a set amount of $3 or something. If they come in worse condition than advertised, file a paypal complaint. You may be pleasantly surprised. Either way, I don't see how you lose out if the prices are reasonable.

I just bought more stuff from them, total of $130 for various Biggios I needed. The shipping cost was.....

I would spend hundreds and hundreds (added up to thousands over time) with them if they would sell at lower prices. The cards I need have been sitting there since they listed them.

Hellooooooooooo.....Is there anyone form Burbank out there?

+1000

They have sooo many Dawson's that I've never seen anywhere
else, but I will NEVER buy them at Burbank's ridonculous prices.
Even if I had the disposable $$, it's a matter of principle.
