edit: sold my 9.5 base, gold, and oranges in the past 2 weeks. i'm happy with 140% roi even though the trio would've gotten $500+ more this week.

I have 1 more base redemption due any day from Topps. It will be either sent to BGS or listed right away.

I don't know how you can pass up a $400-$500+ sale of a BASE Chrome Auto, SP or not.

I'm a huge believer in Hosmer, but prices like this are crazy high, which means the cards are very risky to hold onto. An injury or a little slump may drop them by $200+ over the course of a week.

I agree with you. Free shipping and not coming from overseas should help you. $30 shipping from coming overseas plus whatever the card ends at, you would think yours will get a bid soon.

Agreed. How many people remember that Jered Weaver and Stephen Drew's Chrome Auto's were SP'd (albeit not nearly as extremely as Hosmer.)

If you hold, obviously you are taking a huge risk. The fact that these appear to so short printed, when and if Hosmer's career takes off with consistent strong numbers these cards will be difficult to find and would explode even more. He is off to a nice start and had a solid spring, but it is a long season. Also you need to consider that he is playing for a smaller market team, just being moved to a big market team would offer more growth potential.

IMO it's a great question as the entire dynamic of the market might depend on it.

I don't know enough to answer the question, but can supply a couple of anecdotes:

When Alex Gordon was a prospect, his Chrome RC Auto reached levels beyond anything anyone had ever seen before that time.

A few years back a couple of collectors began completing over the 2002 Prospect Premieres Prince Fielder XRC Auto's and drove up the price from $75 to $150, and the market shifted with them illustrating how little people are actually locked into specific prices, and the impact two people can have (in any card market.)

Not sure how that adds up to explain Hosmer lol, but IMO worth watching who is actually doing the buying.
