Steve Garvey fans and our own @mrmopar - can some of you Garvey folks please contact me regarding the 1989 Sports America Club promotions ? I am starting to research and get back to writing about my Red Sox PC ( see my 365 DAYS OF RED SOX THREAD )

What I would love to show some back up for my Red Sox team sets and my limited info
Shown below is all I have besides some team sets- it's just the Greeting Letter they sent

Wish I could help, but I don't have anything besides some individual team sets , maybe a full factory set (Have a flat emply box factory set with Garvey on packaging) and that same letter (there are at least 2 slightly different versions, by the way). If there was a signed 8x10 that was branded, I have never seen it. It could have just been a non-branded 8x10 photo they sent out. If there was some photo evidence of what the photo looked like, I may have one and not know it, but it would definitely not have the Sports America Club name or logo on it. Same with the membership card. Never seen one.

I do also have a collectors kit, but recall opening one years back and not finding anything unique worth mentioning with regard to a Garvey connection. There may have been one of those club letters. I remember being very disappointed that there wasn't more in there that was club specific. I did leave one sealed though.

Still digging through piles of open boxes and stuff
Can confirm they made these at least 3 years-from 1989 through 1991- as they have these three years packets
Still searching for more of the physical promo items and more years proofs

Thanks for your pics I'll keep digging as I need to locate some sports magazines and the like from those date ranges

One thing I can tell you is that the address listed is actually just the club agents address
Multiple dealers involved in this one with the actual distributor located in Michigan

I have a dozen or more of the team sets stashed in a box. They all seem to be highly beat to hell, price tag stickers all over them, etc. Anyone who kept them sealed didn't seem to think keeping the package un-mangled was a good idea. I stopped buying them because even if you find them cheap(and oddly enough, most sellers think these are mini gold bars based on asking prices), once you tack on shipping and get these beat up packs of pure garbage cards, it wasn't worth it.

Good luck with the hunt. The absolute height of everyone and their brother (literally) getting involved in card sales.
