I just amped myself up and looked at some prices (I know, very late) I can go on Thursday and be there open to close at a fairly reasonable flight price but I wanted to see if you guys thought it would be worth it.

Day and a half I'd say, especially if you like to go through discount boxes and BS with dealers.

I was thinking the same thing - I'm contemplating flying out from MN just for the day on Thursday

If you plan to see and appreciate everything, no. If you have specific things you want to accomplish and specific dealers you plan to visit, show up early and leave late, then maybe. You'll get distracted, see people you know, stand around BS with said people, gawk at all of the cool stuff, etc.

Well I guess I will find out! Flight booked. I will be there 10-6 on Thursday + extra if they open early or close late I suppose.

I am within an hours drive from the convention center and have been to many many National card shows and each time I go I get there early and am done looking by mid afternoon. If it is your first National than you might have trouble getting it done in one day but I know myself and others have no problem getting in and out in a day.

I would suggest getting an idea what you are looking for and walk the aisles first before making a purchase. Take a small notebook with you and write down the booth numbers of dealers you see something you might like to purchase (and the price of the item) that way you can go back and find the dealer more easily after walking the floor once. Walking the floor first allows you to see everything and you then can decide which card or item has more priority for you.

Most of all, enjoy the day. I have always thought that going to a National was like seeing Cooperstown, Canton and Springfield all under one roof with a card show thrown in. Have fun and watch out for who you bump into because you never know which athlete is walking the floor.
