In baseball, I think it's a close race between Philly fans and Cubs fans. Cubs fans littered the field with cups pretty much every time Piniella would argue a bad call, and even threw beer on Victorino on the warning track. I also find it amazing that everyone gives Braves fans a hard time for not being emotional and rooting on their team, which isn't true to begin with, but then one time they raise hell because of a bad call, they're all of the sudden a classless fan base. I talked to a die hard Yankees fan from NY last night and he said if that call happened in Yankees stadium, you wouldn't have even been able to see the green grass of the outfield.

As a lifelong Atlantan and Braves fan, I was really embarrassed by the fan behavior last night. I have never seen our fans act like that in 30 years. I think it was a combination of frustration in finally returning to the post season, potentially seeing Chipper's last game, and a terrible call.

I will say Atlanta is not the best pro sports town. Partly because we didn't have pro sports until the 1960s, partly because we don't have a history of success like other pro sports towns (the 1990s Braves being the exception), and also because Atlanta is a transplant-heavy city, so few people have actual long term ties to Atlanta.

Yep, a solid majority of Cubs fans turn into drunken ******** at games for sure.

Oh and screw the Cardinals, I'm sure they'll pull some bs miracle and end up in the WS again. But Ill digress before I go into all out ******* Cub fan rage.

Cubs fans no. People who go to Wrigley Field to get hammered and there happens to be a Cubs game going on - yes. Don't lump us all in with the drunk losers, many of whom are from out of town and don't care about the Cubs. For better or worse, Wrigley attracts a lot of douches because the neighborhood is a destination.

This is true, you get a lot of out-of-towners at the game and in Wrigleyville acting a fool. I am a Cubs fan myself, and I can tell you that a lot of the Cubs fans I know act pretty stupid come the sixth and seventh inning at games.

EXactly what I was trying to say. It's not really an Insult, just a fact...

Fantastic local College town, just not a Pro town.

Nice ID bTW! :D

Just glad they're hanging in with the Tigers so far, was worried about a revenge-driven blowout...

The rule book says the play was called correctly but I think it needs to be changed some what!

Don't forget the late timeout called when Lohse was in his windup! Umpire blew that by the rule in the rule book!

But the Braves beat them selves with 3 errors & running 3 feet inside the baseline! Simmons cost the Braves more then anybody!

Yes I'm a Cardinals fan, start trashing me now!

The rulebook states that the timing of the call was incorrect, therefore the call was wrong.

Fans have thrown stuff on the field in every city in the country at some type of major sporting event at one time or another. Americans have a short memory when it comes to stuff like this. We forget, stupid people are everywhere and it just takes a couple people or a couple hundred people to make an entire group look horrible. Generalizations are the American way unfortunately and those two hundred people out of 30,000 just gave thousands and thousands of Braves fans a black eye. The event won't stain Chipper's career in the least. In a couple of years hardly anyone will remember what the fans did, and in a decade or two, hardly anyone will remember the fans actions. Why? Because it has happened all over the country at one point or another. Last night just sticks out b/c it is fresh and was on a bigger stage than most and involved the end of a great hofers career.

As to the call. No one in their right mind can say it was the right call. If you do, whether we're friends or not, I'm sorry but you are a moron for a split second of your life when you thought that, and are in the extreme minority. Take braves and cards fans out of it, the only "expert" I've seen say the call was right was Harold freaking Reynolds. I'll side with, with the dozens and dozens of hall of famers, all-stars, current players, reporters, and analysts that are completely dumbfounded with the call over any of the Joe Public who "watch a lot of baseball" and have never played the game higher than little league themselves. The call did not cost the Braves the game alone, everyone who saw the game knows that the defense and lack of clutch hitting did that, but also no one will every know what would or could have happened bases loaded one out as opposed to second and third two outs. The next play could have been double play, nothing changed, or could have been grand slam followed by a snowball 7 run inning. No one will ever know.

Glad someone else gets the ID. We played okay for three quarters. Then I hit up the growler store.

you think st louis is immune?
We had season tickets for 5 years and I can tell you that St.Louis fans can be just as rough as any other fan base. Usually they are pretty good but I seen some pretty stupid fights in the bleachers. It was like 108 in the bleachers one day and a fan was spraying himself with one of those water bottle fans well the water ended up spraying the guy behind hims pants (which is not even that big of a deal considering it is just a light mist) and the drunken idiot was not too happy with it. They ended up in a fight and about 8 others got in it originally trying to break it up but that made it worse. There used to be a video on Youtube of it but it was removed by the user last time I looked for it

Years ago Yankee stadium had a security guard that when SHE said calm down the fans did !! She would point in a general area and people ducked . She could have been a linebacker for the Giants .
