so far he's pitched two amazing games and 2 ND. Don't think he'll get lots of wins or a cy young, but tons of Ks and an above average ERA
Yes, ala tim lincecum. Babied him until like 3/4 way into the season when they let him get his first shut outBigfan5 said:darocker80 said:not legible for ROYvetsgt02 said:I picked him for my long shot for the Cy young to start the season and I am sticking with itI think he can still win rookie of the year as well.

Agree with you there. Also, at 21 years old he'll be on a short leash as far as innings/pitches. Until he learns to just pitch and not nibble he'll still walk a lot of guys which will further decrease his chances for the CY or a lot of wins for that matter.
Its alright, you're just a very supportive fan of a very young and talented pitcher.vetsgt02 said:well in both of his starts he has pitched 105 pitches which is a pretty good amount. He only walked 1 yesterday but he was pitching against the Giants so those game stats could of been inflated. I really hope he can at least make the all star game but of course none of it will matter if he gets no run support. I do not claim to know half as much about this stuff as alot of you guys so I am speaking as a hopeful fan and not from actual knowledge so please forgive me if I come across niave or out of touch :?

I have not seen him walking alot of tguys this season so far (granted only been 2 starts) His pitch count is so high because he is a Strikeout pitcher what he needs to do is learn to let the ball go into play and let his lineup work a little. There is nothing wrong with strikout guys but it seems like he is tryign to K every single guy and that is hurting him from going deep into the game. I honestly think he is maybe 1-2 seasons away from being one of the top 4 pitchers in the game.

That's always the issue with strike out pitchers. I think it all depends on when a pitcher comes to the realization that it's not necessary to strike everyone out, and that a ground ball in the first few pitches is necessary to make it through the game. While at the same time he still possesses the ability to get a K when he needs it.
When they understand that, they become dominant.
