Ugly day (and week) for highly ranked teams. So much for our thread about Texas being #1...

And an Instant Classic in the PAC-10 with Arizona holding off U-W despite a great game by Zeke Jr.

But SDSU and BYU keep rolling.

Lol Texas, Kanas Pitt and Ohio State are still quite a bit better than BYU and SDSU IMO, I think both will be gone before the elite 8.

You know, alot of people laughed at me for taking Butler to the Final 4 last year. 8-)

With no clear-cut favorite (like Kansas last year), I think the Tourney is wide-open. Both should be pretty high seeds which makes the first two games easier and teams that play a more "team-based" system like SDSU are at the advantage there and that Jimmer can carry BYU for a coupla games by himself.

Gotta love the "game-winning block" at the end of that game!!! Not something you see often.

Illinois @ MSU coming up. Both teams underperforming this year--I'm hoping Illinois can start building something leading into March!

Out of the first 4 conference tournament championships only 1 "underdog" has won and they didn't beat a team who's already in, so they didn't knock out any at-large team.

Would be cool to see Harvard in the Tournament. They've never been in EVER. It's been Princeton and Penn for a while and then lately, Cornell. Harvard would be one and done though.

And I'm curious to see if BYU gets a #1 seed, especially if they win an under-rated Big West's conference tourney without Davies.

Kembo made a good run at it, but I think Jimmer locked up POY last nite by dropping 52...

Alot of the top seeds are Barely winning their conference tourney games, but winning still, so not as many at-large teams "bumped" as usual. And the Top 4 seeds aren't decided yet I bet. OSU and Kansas are probably LOCKS, but the other two are wide open. BYU, even without their 2nd best player, could still get a #1, Very cool IMO!

And am I the only kinda excited for the Harvard-Princeton playoff game?

I really can't see BYU getting a #1 seed. As you said Kansas and Ohio State are locks. I think that even though they had an early exit Pitt will get a #1 seed for winning what was easily the best conference during the regular season. If either Duke or UNC wins the ACC tourney I think they get the last #1. I could also see Texas getting it if they manage to beat Kansas in the final of their tournament.

Its also been a blast to watch Kemba play all year. Most of us here in CT thought Uconn would be lucky to win more than 15 games this year. Its almost unfair how young this team is. Outside of Kemba, nobody that matters is older than a sophomore and they rely on up to 4 or 5 freshman a game. Hopefully they can pull it off tonight and then have a good run in the tourney.

ESPN had video today of Kyrie Irving running through drills. If he is able to come back for the tournament that could drastically change things.

I don't think BYU will get a #1 seed, but I'd love to see it! I do think two of the Committee members are from the MWC.

And Duke getting Irving back would be huge, and the uncertainty of N. Smith's injury will make Brackets tough to do, especially since they're due on Tuesday now...

I was just reading on Rivals and it had KU, OSU, Pitt and Notre Dame as the 4 1's. Duke, UNC San Diego St. and Louisville as the 2's. It has BYU all the way down as the last 4 seed. On ESPN I believe I heard Gottlieb say he thinks BYU will drop all the way down to a 4 or 5 seed.

I'd be surprised if they dropped below a 3 but these guys obviously know a lot more about this than I do. It seems that not having Davies will really hurt their seeding since San Diego St. who they beat twice is a 2 seed.
