Yesterday i had a bidder ask if they might pay with a money order for an auction I have running.

I politely told him that new ebay policy requires that I accept paypal, and other electronic payments, blah, blah, blah.

He contacted ebay to clarify the answer I gave him and I received this responce from ebay.

IF I CAN ACCEPT THESE PAYMENTS, WHY IN BLUE H*LL CAN'T I STATE THAT IN MY AUCTIONS?

"Dear jtnbigbuck10,

This message is in response to a conversation I had over eBay's live
help system with one of your customers, (xxxxxxxxxxx). He contacted us
to clarify that it is permissible within eBay policy for you to accept a
Money Order as payment.

*My bolding of the quoted material from the email.

"While it is not permitted for money orders to be listed as an accepted
payment method, nor to be requested as a payment method by the seller
you can accept this form of payment from your buyer upon the buyer's
request if you are so inclined. "

They want people to sign up for Paypal.

The longer I use eBay, the more I hate it.

I have had a few people email and ask If they can pay with a MO.... I have told them they can... but eBay just doesnt allow me to list it as a form of payment anymore.

Why we cant list it as a form of payment is nuts.... but I have no issues with them.

And that is why ebay OFFICIALLY makes no sense....

I can't say I accept MO, but if the buyer wants to, they can pay with one....

Am I missing something?????? :?:

You can't list it as a form of payment, yet Turbo Lister still allows it as an option. Until you upload, then it comes up with an error...

The reasoning behind it other than they want to streamline everyone into using PAYPAL, is that they can not in any way cover a dispute involving a money order......where as with PAYPAL they can.

Basically what ebay is saying over the live chat, was that if the buyer and seller want to engage in the trading of goods for a money order, then they can do so at their own risk.....
