Sorry, I voted no. I do not think it is a very good idea and not a good investment at all

I voted no also. way too much red tape involved.
Who has the card, who insures it in case of damage, what if it is stolen?

I'd like to invest in a high end prospect card because they see a lot more movement than vintage cards. Brandon Belt or Paul Goldschmidt superfractor autographs?

I voted 25.00 but would go up to 100.00 depending on the card. I would do like a 52 Mantle or even T206 Cobb Green -PSA Those cards go up every year.

It seems like we'd be best off getting a big group and doing a couple cards rather than just 1.

You could issue shares and with a bigger group, the shares would be more active too, which would also be fun.

beat me to it

You better vote for $200 then

Was going to post the same. This won't end well.

I'll pass and just get the Mattingly card with the big sideburns for myself.

I like this. If people wanted to invest more $ they just buy more shares?

Not everyone needs to be like minded, the majority just needs to be like minded.

The more I think about it, I like the $50 idea. That's my vote. Shares like the stock market or something.

I would do this and if Phil is the holder of the cards, I know there should be no one that has an issue. Of course, thats if he wants to!

Some rules would need to be established along with the understanding its majority rules...

I voted $50 and I'd be interested. Make a separate sub forum on FCB for all things 'whatever we own' related and if someone wanted to sell, only those members have access to that forum. And then majority rules on making decision and the 'stock holders' are the only ones permitted in the sub forum.

I voted no for myself, but I could see an "investment" group working together to buy up a specific prospect and it working that way.

I think a lot of rules would have to be established. The more I think about this, the more complicated it becomes.

You'd have to define the scope of the fund: sport, era, graded, raw. How many cards in the fund etc.

You'd have to define the fund valuation - how often do the cards get valued, what's the starting price of the shares. My initial thought is $25 a share, you open up the IPO, people buy in for a period of x time. The buy in process is then closed and the buying of the actual cards begins, lets say you have 30 days to accomplish that. Whomever was the one buying the cards would have full range to buy the cards - cannot hold votes for each card purchase. But the cards that person was hunting for would be outlined by the collective group - so no going off the reservation.

You'd have to define how the voting worked as shareholders, what events are votable, what events are not, what constisutes a quorum to take action. At what point in time can the manager of the fund take action without votes needed (set a threshold). You'd have to define the process for trading/selling shares. You'd have to define a time horizon over which you want the liquidation and payout of the fund to happen, you'd have to define if cards are purchased raw, is grading a part of the deal. You'd have to define the procedures for how the cards are kept and on and on and on.

Sounds kind of fun though.

Also, right now, we have $800 in "preliminary" commitments, we'd need to establish a floor to get one of the funds off the ground and it would be more than $800.

The only problem I see per se is the actual ownership of the card. Who gets what when who dies? Where does it eventually go?

Seems interesting but complicated at the same time..Obviously there would be a ton of disagreement, but I would look into investing it this ever took off.
