I have no idea why this idea came to me, but I really wondered if it would work. I saw a Contenders Golden Ticket football card and I started thinking about how cool would it be if some cards became worth more because they had a golden ticket incentive...let me explain. In Bowman Chrome and BDP sets, they always release superfractors. What if even the low-end supers became worth more? They could be if this was done...My idea...it's called the "Triple Threat Set".

Here's the premise:

No superfractor would actually be inserted into a product, only redemption cards. When you go to redeem it online, you will be given 3 options.
1. Redeem it for the actual superfractor.
2. Submit it for a chance to win all of the Superfractors submitted for the contest.
3. Submit it for a chance to win the Triple Threat Set, a special 1/1 parallel Superfractor set that has a special seal imprinted on the card identifying it as part of the Triple Threat set. It would look like the regular supers but with the seal on it.

When you submit the card, you don't get it back. It goes into the pool of superfractors entered. Everyone who chooses option 2 has a chance of winning all of the submitted cards. Everyone who chooses option 3 has a chance to win the Triple Threat set. No matter what, you will receive a limited edition set of top 10 prospects with 10% of the print run being autographed so that way you at least win something. The print run would be determined by the number of entries. IF 100 people enter, then 100 sets are made with 10 being autoed. If 200 submit, then 200 sets are made with 20 autoed sets.

All cards would have to be submitted by a certain date for the contest. Supers could still redeemed any time in the future, but would not be in the contest. With all cards being redeemed, it would ensure that Topps had near-mint cards and not one that someone accidentally damaged and sent it in.

Topps would run a live database online showing the amount that have been redeemed but not the exact card so it wouldn't kill prices for . No one would know who picked what option. This means 50 people could enter for the superfractor lot, but 150 could try for the special set. Plus if someone pulled a Bryce Harper or some other stud prospect, they would likely keep it due to the value.

The database would in a sense let everyone know how many "golden tickets" were left. It could potentially drive up prices of the superfractors that no one would really want, bringing value to a super of a no-name 28 year old prospect or a common veteran. Imagine pulling an Edgar Renteria super and not being disappointed. You could submit it for a chance to win thousands of dollars of cards. Plus it would keep all the superfractors in circulation and not just stored or destroyed at Topps.

Again no idea why I thought of this, but I once I started thinking about it, more ideas kept coming and I thought it would be great to see it happen.

So here's the questions, would it work? What would you submit your super for a shot at something better? What do you think it would do for prices or excitement of collectors?

Even if the player would typically only sell for $20?

Yes, most supers dont sell for under 50$. Especially if these are auto'd no one would do it.

That's my point. Most people with an autoed super wouldn't do it. But what if you had a shot at another 1/1 set with all of the autoed ones. Plus if less people enter, it creates a better opportunity to win.

Fun idea, but people with a good superfractor would just choose to redeem it and the only people willing to risk their superfractor would have worse supers. Therefore the pool of supers that you could win would most likely be made up off scrubs. Still a cool idea that could definitely be built upon.

Topps cant cut cards correct so how do you think this promotion would go?

They also have been having big problems with the diamond dig, you think the database for your idea would run smoothly?

Not knocking your idea, just saying it wouldnt go over at all.
