You'd rather have Granderson? No way.

I think we would all take beltran. BUT, Beltran wasn't going to sign with the Mets, that was obvious. You also have the risk of Beltran's injury history and his age that could play a major factor in his production. The Mets certainly don't have their "pick" of free agents currently, it is what it is.

It's not about whether Beltran or Granderson or whoever "was" or "wasn't" going to which team. It was about whether you'd rather have Granderson for 4 years at 60 Million or Beltran at 3 years 48 million.

Beltran is a much more complete hitter and Granderson was helped immensely by the Yanks park. Granderson's average and K's have been very bad the past few years and the only thing that helped his value was 40 HRs. Which is more than likely around 30-33 in the Mets park maybe even lower. And Granderson doesn't play great defense.

In terms of offensively/Defensively Beltran>Granderson every day and twice on sunday. Yes he may be a bit more injury prone but if he can play 120-140 games he'll put up much better numbers than Granderson.

Joe,

my comment was more of a response to the "typical" Yankees fan, down talking someone who left, praising the new guy.

Is Beltran a better player then Granderson? Of course he is. But Beltran is also a scumbag. i wish him nothing but suffering in his personal and professional life.

Seriously? Why would I praise someone who is worse than the new guy we have for very similar money? Thats makes absolutely zero sense bud.

Cano left but I haven't downtalked him once. He wasn't worth the money and am glad the Yanks didn't pay for him. Granderson is a class act and is someone who I enjoy listening to off the field but I will pass a 220-250 average and 200 k's even if he's hitting 40 bombs in NY. Beltran's a scumbag? Please tell me all about your personal vendetta against the man.

Mets fans need not worry.

Granderson will watch curveballs right down the middle.
Granderson will swing at pitches over his head.
Granderson will swing at pitches in the dirt.
Granderson will strike out 185+ times.

No it is not, because that assumes both teams had a realistic opportunity at signing both players. We all know that Beltran would have never signed with the Mets, thus comparing the contracts apples to apples really makes no sense. Granderson is very likely the best player the Mets could have landed with the money they had to spend. Beltran wasn't an option. If all you are saying as a Yankees fan is, Yes, I would rather have Beltran, that I completely understand.

That was a dirty pitch. I completely forgot about it.

So because he was a failure for the mets he's now a scumbag? Didn't know that was how it worked ;) I think most Yankees fans would much rather have Beltran over Granderson. Granderson was a product of Yankee stadium. Beltran is an all around player.

Yep. XXXX that guy. i hope he dies in a fire

Ah I think we were both getting at the same things but just going around each other. I was saying it from a Yankee fan perspective but I understand the Mets perspective as well.

Well then. That escalated quickly.

Anyone who blames Beltran for the Mets losing that game doesn't know much about baseball. I was at that game, the Mets had more than their fair chances to win the game before Wainright released the ridiculous curveball on Beltran.

I'm as big a beltran supporter there is but no way is his contract better then grandersons. Beltrans knees are absolutely shot, there's a reason he was only interested in teams with dh's. Granderson is a consistent 3+ war player who will lose some power in citi field but he will slso cut down on k's/raise his average back into the .260's. He also plays above average defense and in an outfield with chris b young and juan lagares you may not see a ball drop in the outfield the entire year
