So whats the dirt I am missing? This guy has been great at times but has been dealt
many times? At 13 mil these days thats a decent deal I think.

Is he bad in the clubhouse ? All around negative? If I were J Mozeliak I would be all over that trade.
I think STL could use him to replace Lohse.

I've never heard anything bad said about him in the clubhouse. Seems to me that he's been dealt because he's played on some cheap teams that preferred to flip him for prospects instead of paying his growing value. The Cards dealt him to get Mark Mulder, who was an ace type pitcher at the time (before he totally broke down). The A's flipped him for a prospect package because they're the A's. Arizona flipped him for parts during a rebuild.

After a bad 2012 season, maybe the Angles are spooked that he's going to break down?

He's had a brilliant career and this was really his first truly bad season. His numbers were un-Haren-like across the board including the lowest IP and the highest WHIP of his career. Granted he had been averaging over 220 IP since 2005! I think some people think he was battling injuries. If that's true then the man's a trooper.

Like Digicat pointed out, he was flipped to teams for prospects, and having been in the league now for 11 years, and finishing his second and a half year with Angels (split year 2010 with AZ)

The Angels have will have to find a cheaper replacement for Haren, who seems to average about 2.5 years with a team anyway. I think the decline the option and buy him out but trading him for hopefully another cheaper number 4 or 5 could work for them.....

As an Angels fan I will miss Haren. His back issues really nagged him this year. It's sad to see management turn so harshly on him after one mediocre year (in which the entire team under performed). He's a great hitter, so the NL may be the best spot for him.

I think the Angels are trying to free up cash to sign Zach Greinke to a more long term deal. Isn't the trade deadline...TODAY???

It'd be nice if the Twins could get him since they missed out on Ervin Santana.

Too many teams has killed his card values. No time to build a fanbase.

His stuff should be worth MUCH more than it is, based on just his stats. (minus this year of course).

Looks like the Cubs are trying for Haren. If so I would have to imagine that Junior Lake is gone

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/j...-on-haren-talks-as-option-deadline-approaches

The Cubs would be a good fit. Get him back in the NL!

This would make Sam Banks lose his mind again. Sam hates when all his past favorites of the Red birds, end up with the Cubs towards the end of their time.
Nit that Haren is done in anyway, he would just arrive sooner then he would like to see with the Cubs though.

#Angels are on the verge of trading RHP Dan Haren to the #Cubs for RH reliever Carlos Marmol. #Cubs' Marmol has reportedly confirmed trade to #Angels to media in the Dominican Republic.
