Brooks in a great pose and a design I love. The gold version would look spectacular!

Bobby Richardson Archives in a nice action shot that the 60s didn't offer us originally on cards.

McAdoo mini 1/1 unlicensed Leaf offering, but I liked it, so why not.

Billy Williams /15. One of the more affordable HOFers overall with certified autographs to choose from.

I got this for $8 plus shipping. Dominique Wilkins, one of the top 50 NBA stars for less than $10. I know people shy from the lesser brands, but this is such a cool set. You have to hold it up to the light to see it, otherwise it just looks like a silver card. Very easy way to get a few decent autographs. Some of the players are super short printed (Barkley, Pippen, Ewing), but the others have close to 1000 or more copies.

Icee Big O. Great oddball, oversized set that doesn't get much love outside of those who really know a lot about the issue it seems.

After Garvey left the Dodgers and I was not watching baseball as closely, my allegiance followed him to the padres. It was an exciting time and I saw a decent number of rookies and old pros appear in those terrible orange and brown Padre uniforms. Most of those good players didn't last too long before they were shipped elsewhere, like Carlos Baerga, Shame Mack, John Kruk, Alan Wiggins, Roberto & Sandy Alomar Jr, Benito Santiago, Kevin McReynolds, Carmelo Martinez to name a few. Then the vets that made brief appearances, like Garvey, Graig Nettles, Jerry Royster, Rich Gossage, Joe Carter, Gary Sheffield and Fred McGriff. Imagine if they would have consistently fielded a solid team around their one consistent star, Tony Gwynn. They always lacked solid pitching back then. A few shined briefly, like Andy Benes, Andy Hawkins, Lance McCullers and Dave Dravecky.

I wanted this 1990 Leaf Preview card because its a nice action shot in a great simplistic set, Carter didn't last long in SD and doesn't have a ton of cards and these are still well sought after cards to this day. McGriff would be a part of the 92 Leaf Preview set as well, also with a great action photo. I need to chase that one down next.

Despite the lack of star power of the 1981 Padres, I can't get enough of these. I now have 4 total, Ozzie Smith being the first one I found and purchased. I assume there is a Dave Winfield, other than that the checklist would likely be pretty unspectacular. This type of item continues to be under appreciated and that is fine by me. Gives me a better chance to win them when they show up.

Huge mailday today. Maybe last mail for the year 🤷‍♂️

This was sent to me out of the graciousness of a fellow collector who he himself picked up the incredible 1/1 version.
