Padres Acquire Derek Norris

The Padres have acquired catcher Derek Norris in a trade with the A’s, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports (Twitter links). Oakland will receive one or two minor league pitchers back in return.

I know they had three Catchers they liked on the roster, but really? :-?

That's 5 of their 7 or 8 All-Stars gone this off-season...

Plus, doesn't this make the (already bad 'cuz it wasn't necessary) Gio Gonzalez trade a complete bust?

I'm still just baffled Kazmir is one of the last all-stars still on the team. I have nothing against the guy, just would have been of all of them, the first I cashed in on.

This is a good deal. Beane got a very good return for Norris who is just a slightly above average player. Alvarez and Hahn will be good for them.

Padres really upgrading this offseason.
