I don't have to PM you about anything, and I suggest you read the TOS where it refers to the editing of posts and the rights that the staff has to do so.

Razor Ink Archives mired in controversy
1 04 2009

Ten years ago, most collectors had to wait months to read about card-related news in either Beckett or through Tuff Stuff. How much controversy do you think both those companies ignored just to save advertising dollars?

Yesterday, a member of the "that forum that was spammed as a result of the theft of a distribution list" forums made a very interesting discovery on eBay. As it turns out, over 100 Inkworks autographs had been sold through an eBay account “wwwaitexascom” weeks prior to the announcement that Razor had bought the Inkworks archives, believed to contain over 20,000 autographs.

Razor had released a sell sheet for Ink Archives which was due to be released in May and according to Trader Crack’s, contained just under 18,000 Inkworks autographs. The problem occurred when "that forum that was spammed as a result of the theft of a distribution list" did some background checks and found out that the eBay account belongs to a company owned by Brian Gray of Razor.

As you can imagine, many accusations have been tossed around including that Razor cherry-picked the best autographs and sold them on eBay and stuck collectors with the commons for Ink Archives. I can’t imagine for one second that Brian would be so brazen to attempt such a scheme and destroy the credibility of his company. Ultimately, we will find out the truth when Ink Archives starts popping up on YouTube.

The question I have is why did Razor not sell the Inkworks autographs not being included in Archives through its much-publicised eBay account? I spoke with Brian last night and he informed me that there were plenty of the “big name” autographs being included in Ink Archives and that there were so many leftover cards that there might even be a second series released in the near future.

This story is brought to you by the power of the Internet.

Update - Brian has informed this blog that the remaining Inkworks cards have been removed from eBay. He also stated that the reason they were being sold on another account was because the cards were not produced by Razor.

My opinion on this, much to do about nothing. There are enough autographs in the inkworks liquidation to fill this product three times.

However, I also agree with 200lb, perception IS everything. Razor really needs to get a handle on that. It is ok to list those autographs on ebay, but pulling them makes it look like it wasn't.

While there is nothing wrong with listing them, I still think it wasn't a good idea to list them to begin with. There is too much drama in this hobby and the message boards and blogs will jump on anything they can.

By the way, based on what I saw of what he had posted on Ebay, there was no more than 5 of any of the autos offered (at least I think...I didn't check every auction he had available). I was curious where he came from though cuz one second he didn't have any Inkwork autos up, and the next he had a ton of them up. I'm glad I know now.

It definitely looks bad.

As long as what he says is in the product actually makes it into the product, then I'm fine with it. But it does look really bad and I could see why it would make people hesitant.

No matter how it gets sugar coated, this was a bad bad move by Razor. My hope is they realize how bad this looks and take those better autos that were up in that ebay store and load up this product. Has it been packaged yet? I know it's release is still a month plus off. So my hope is they reward those who pre-ordered this sell out product with all the big hits included. If they do have all these extra autos, pull out the lesser one's.. Then when people are pulling better autos, none of this stuff will be remembered. I hope they still have a chance to pack out all these cards that were on ebay. I know they said they were looking for a Jolie to insert, so they should have time to make changes.

The backlash this will cause can't be worth the little bit of money he's was going to make on those cards. What was he thinking...

I have two cases of Ink Archives coming and it doesn't bother me that much. The cards are his afterall. As long as the product is as described I won't have any complaints.

I just backed out of my preorder. I may regret it later.... but I cant fork over that kind of money on something I have lost faith in. And once again I tried to give him a chance to win me over and he pulls this. Like I said... I may regret it later... but hopefully I dont.

Man I wish he still posted. Would love to hear BG take on this. I know during the podacast he said they have 10 Ozzy autos and one Ritter. They must have a count on all the big names. I'm sure someone had to take inventory on all these.

I thought for sure this would have garnered further attention on the boards, but nothing.
Did I miss something or was this discussed earlier on here?

I would say that three pages on a non sports product on a sports forum is a lot of attention
