Mike originally created a forum on one of those free forum sites. It was then decided to expand the site and buy a URL. During that process, Chris was named a moderator.Bruin7 said:

chris, if you have nothing to fear you should not have banned him. if his talk is nonsense, you should have explained it to everyone. by deleting his posts and banning him so quickly, it makes it appear your covering up for yourself and look guilty. if this is the open forum as you suggest, an explanation i due to the members here.
i'm just speaking openly and this is by no means a threat and hope i don't get banished myself for speaking my mind.

I'm staying here. I couldn't care less if Chris benefits from running the site as without him and this site I would have no where else to go. This certainly could have been handled better by MyPens66 imo but its over with and we really dont need to push anyone elses buttons right now

Actually it was going very well, even Beckett was pissed off b/c it took a ton of its traffic. This sit ehas grown though since.

He took his leave, and abused the email database to email members. I am sorry, but this is pretty cut and dry.

to email the members that came to the site because of him in the first place. by definition, i dont think one global email from the founder of the site is abuse. i think many would agree with me on that

making a global post is not a mature thing to do if he is saying he has 'moved on'. obviously he hasn't. i just hope he has by the time his ban ends and he can come back here and be civil (i didn't see the post, but i'm guessing it was fairly nasty).
I mean sure, mike started this website, but chris has been the main contributor in transforming it into what it is now, like it or not, and deserves the credit he has taken.

His complaints are highly overplayed. He created a free message board and invited about 50-100 people from the BMB. Less than a month later we moved to this site/server and that was that.

It seems to me like the situation facebook had a couple years ago. Two guys claimed Zuckerman stole their idea that they had all talked about together at some point. To me it's just a case of one person doing something and the other person sitting around, regretting not being more proactive, and pouting.

Chris has done a great job, along with the mods.
BUT, don't forget, this site is nothing without it's members.
If the top 50 members left and started their own site (just like what happened with them leaving beckett and starting here), then this site would be worth diddley dooda.
I do wish Mypens was still around, and I think it is too bad that it has come to this. I am surprised that there wasn't some form of contract put into place. If there is money involved, which there is, you would think that there would be stipulations in writing.
I just hope that this site stays in the same direction as it was meant to. A great site for hobby banter. And I truly hope it doesn't turn into a site looking to make money at every turn. I am sure there is already some cash incoming and likely in the black overall, which is all good in my mind. It wouldn't take alot for this site to quickly mirror beckett, and push people away.
