I was checking a tracking number for a card I purchased on eBay and it noted the following:

"Your item was delivered at 4:44 PM on February 8, 2010 in DENVER, CO 80239. "

However, it wasn't in my inbox. Is there a chance it was placed in the wrong box? Do I have a chance at getting my money back, since it was delivered to the correct zip code, but the wrong address? I know eBay/PayPal is known for some crazy shat with fraudulent buyers: Would that assist me; one who has truly not received the item?

I understand this is in no way, the buyer's fault. Regardless of what I can manage, I will not be leaving any sort of non-positive feedback (e.g., neutral nor negative).

It probably was delivered to the wrong mailbox, or just misplaced by the postman and they're covering thier tracks. Either way if you file a claim with paypal, you won't win as it says it was delivered. I was a seller and this happened to my buyer a few months back. He opened a claim, but since it wasn't my fault, I won. It sucks when something like this happens, but it does happen. Hopefully it turns up eventually, but for now I'm sorry to say you're SOL

Thanks Andy. If others feel the same, then I won't even bother. I wouldn't mind the seller giving me some feedback for the transaction, though, since they received their end?

J-Rod: Quite possible. I just went back a few minutes ago (12AM), but it wasn't there.
I don't exactly live in a neighborhood where people return other's mail. Luckily, it wasn't a big purchase, but still....anything can happen! :P

Funny thing is, I have a habit of not checking TCs after I receive my mail. The mail-lady was there as I left. Had I known the item was on transit, I would have asked. :x

On the bright side: It's only happened twice (TC noting "delivered") in...oh, 500+ transactions, over the past 3 years?

This exact same thing happened to me as the seller a month back. I sold a video game to a newer ebayer, the DC number showed as delivered but the buyer claimed he never received it. He eventually filed a claim and got his money back, but ebay/Paypal did not take the money back from me since it showed up as delivered to the correct address. Good luck.

If you paid with a credit card you can file a chargeback. It is the seller's responsibility to get the item to the buyer. If it was high end he should have purchased insurance or run the risk of giving the card away if something like this happens.

Yup, if you don't get the card, you have every right to file a complaint.

This is why you pay absurd paypal fees, remember. From what I understand, paypal will pay this out of their own pocket.

I'd much rather pay almost nothing on paypal transactions and not even get this coverage, but they make you pay for it so you might as well take advantage of it.

The seller did get the item to the buyer. He sent it with DC, per eBay/PayPal coverage standards, and mailed it.

The post office is the one who marked it delivered when it wasnt.

Not the seller's fault the PO screwed up.

And this may not help you either.

I had a package that showed delivered to the correct zip code, but the buyer never received it.

We filed an insurance claim, but since the packaged showed as delivered, the claim was denied.

I sold an item once and the buyer gave me a bad address. The item came back to me as undeliverable. Funny thing is, the DC said delivered. So I would check with the seller to see if it was returned to him/her.

Happened to me before too, but I was actually reimbursed. Here's how: The buyer has to file an affidavit stating that he never received the card. However, most buyers are usually pissed off at the seller at this point and don't want to help. The PO where I went had the paperwork to send to the buyer, which he filled out and ultimately resulted in my recovery of funds. It was a LOT of work, though. They certainly don't make it easy.

Also, check with your local Post Office first too. It's possible that it got scanned upon arriving at the PO and that it's sitting there.

I had an issue a while ago also with Insurance recovery where everything showed as delivered, but upon filling out the paperwork, the buyer checked with his PO and sure enough, the packages were there...

I really appreciate everyone's responses. I will definitely take a few things into consideration; starting with checking if it was delivered today.
