Do prospectors have Personal Collections?

The reason I ask is that when I was going through some prospect cards at the National, a guy came up and asked the guy next to me if "you guys (meaning prospectors) have personal collections at all?" The guy responded "hellz no! buy and sell baby, buy and sell!".

I'm a prospector but I still have PC's of Mets and Rangers players (those are my teams) so, I guess I do.

Anyone here that doesn't and just 100% buy and flip?

I have a PC but everything has a price. Obviously with PC stuff, my price is much higher than what it's actually worth on the open market.

I prospect to fund my PC. Admittedly, I only clear about $500/year, so it is nothing major. But yes, I do. Plus some top prospects are PC guys for me, that I do sell off doubles of occasionally.

I don't have a big card budget, so I prospect and use the funds to supplement my card budget. Any profits I make go right back into cards. I think most "small time" prospectors, like myself, are the same way.

I have a huge PC, and some people consider me a prospector because I do have a lot of prospect cards. I know that with Buster Posey - I was hording him, and when he was ROY, I sold off a chunk of the cards that I had of him because of the value. I still kept a handful of the cards though.

I like to find a good player to hoard and when that player gets hot sell off some of the stash and recoup the money I laid out. This way your original stash is paid for and the rest is gravy. So if you still wanna collect or pc the guy it cost you nada. This was Montero for me although I did profit handsomely I still have a ton of his stuff but I am fine with what I have the plan was to watch him in pinstripes but nothing ever works out the way you want it to

I have a big Indianapolis Colts collection. In order to not go broke, my prospecting is going to help fund all of this Andrew Luck stuff.

Otherwise I do have a few nice football (non colts) and baseball cards that I keep, but probably 70 percent of what I spend is on prospects.

I have a PC that has nothing to do with prospects. Although it used to be harder for me to move stuff from it...

I am a prospector because I need a camera that costs around 7K, so when I was buying Eddie Rosario bowman auto's for $12 each (got around 15 now) I plan on flipping them if they get close to $35 each. Which will be close to $500 for me if it hits $35 each. That $500 will be used to get tons more prospect stuff in the offseason, more color and higher end stuff. Worse comes to worse I put my rosario's in a safe and get them out during ST and flip them before the season starts for close to $30 and put that into more color stuff.

I only do prospects of players I wouldn't mind keeping in the PC. So, only Yankees that I've taken an interest in. That way if/when one of them misses (which will be most obviously), just stays in the PC.

I am a Buster Posey Supercollector and most of my PC are either cards of Buster or other prominent Giants/49er Players. I do bust wax though as a misguided attempt to fund my Buster Posey purchases (though it never seems to work out that way). The gambler in me loves the thrill of opening packs.

My prospecting/flipping fuels my personal collection. I have been prospecting for 8 years. I started collecting vintage in 2011 because I started growing tired of the cycle of only buying and selling. After that long of time my personal collection was mainly the failed prospects I have in the countless card boxes that I cant sell. So the past 2 years I have been buying vintage cards with my profits. I have really grown to appreciate vintage cards and now I have something to show for what my prospecting has done. Also, vintage is good to have as a personal collection because the cards value is not as unstable. One problem is I have found out that I can flip vintage cards as well.
