The only baseball player I kinda know is Dustin Ackley. He went to the same high school I did, but while my youngest brother was there. I went to college with Frank Tanana's twin daughters, and one of my college friend's dad is Andre Thorton.

Most of the pro athletes from my area are basketball players. I played rec league ball growing up with Chris Paul. Also Josh Howard some too.

I ran track and cross country in HS. Angelo Crowell (TB Bucs/Bills) was on my track team, and we had to run against Brendan Haywood (NBA Wizards) in cross country. Is was hillarious seeing a huge 7 ft + guy running in high topps in the woods. His school made all the basketball players run cross country since they didn't really have a team.

I taught Peter Hissey (Red Sox minor leaguer) when he was in kindergarten. I played ball with the kids at recess and had to underhand it to alot of the kids except Peter who could handle overhand with plenty of speed. Had a nice swing even at the age of five.

I was 2-3 with a bases loaded double against Josh Banks (Toronto & San Diego) in High School. Better story though... one of my good buddies & teammates was pitching in American Legion ball against Mark Teixeira... my buddy struck him out in his first at bat, he was feeling quite proud of himself... the next THREE at bats Tex proceeded to put THREE out and I still think the second was hasen't landed yet!!! He always says he struck out Mark Teixeira though. Anne Arundel County in Maryland puts out some players (Teixeira, Banks, Gavin Floyd, and a bunch of minor leaguers)!!!

Kelly Johnson: known him sine I was 7
Ryan Langerhans: played ball with him growing up
Ross Ohlendorf: played ball with him in HS
Kerry Wood: he used to live on my street before he moved to Dallas. I remember his brother ripped open his knee skateboarding and had to get a bunch of stitches. Then we were playing around at his house and his knee crashed in to the corner of the tv stand. Ripped the stitches out and there was a huge gaping hole in his knee. It was gnarly

Would you be interested in a nice Hissey card?
If so, PM me your address.

I know a few current pro players. But the one I know best is Chris Heisey of the Cincinnati Reds. A real great guy, and we talk on the phone/text/talk in person regularly.

I also know:

Anthony Lerew (Royals, MLB)
Cody Eppley (Rangers, AAA)

Reid gorecki of the SWB yankees. He grew up in the town over from me but is goes to a bar that my dads best friend owns in town. Probably the nicest guy ever. We talked after the game for like 5 mins even with people wanting his autograph he signed but carried a conversation. I heard one kid say how Reid was his favorite player, reid went over and started a conversaation with that kid. hes such a good guy, but down pack one hell of a massive dip...
