What would possibly make him a good choice? One thing would suffice.

He has as much credentials as Selig had, he owned a team.

Politics has moved from General Chat to the baseball boards! I love it!

Selig's ownership and involvement in the game as an owner far exceeded Bush's.

Bush could actually make a decent commish, as he has plenty of experience as a figurehead and yes-man to those more powerful than him.

For the love of the game, Bush would probably be pretty good. I know he LOVES the game and fancys himself enough of an athlete that he would probably empathize with the players.

So, for that reason and the fact that he has never really been that good at anything that requires a savy business sense, there is no way in hell the owners would EVER let it happen.

Bud may have been/is a ******, but he has made everyone associated with the MLB extremely rich during his tenure.

Very true and the reason why Selig will be enshrined in the HOF eventually.

Anyone that would support GWB and have him put in charge of anything should have their head examined for traces of brains. If he were the commish he would ruin baseball and it would be in the state our nation is in. He was the worst president in history and would be likewise in baseball.

I generally stay away from these posts and rarely comment. But that's the best post like this I've read in a while. You've been thanked.

Seriously, no more former owners as commissioners! If we're just throwing names out at this point - George Will would be an interesting candidate.

His heart would be in the right place, but he's a writer...nothing more. With virtually no first-hand business knowledge and experience, he is not someone that the owners could put a lot of faith into to make them money.

All true, but I must admit that I'm almost in favor of someone coming in from outside the world of MLB at this point. Though I'm not on the same side as Will politically I do consider him an intellectual and I applaud the fact that he doesn't shy away from pointing a finger at himself or those whom he typically supports. I suppose just personal preference for me at this point, and certainly the point about baseball's economic infrastructure is on point as it will be difficult for a non-owner to easily adapt in that way.
