Re: Do you tip your mailperson for Chritmas

People that give the mailman $20+ must be loaded :D.... nawww but I might put a $5-$10 giftcard in the box for mine this year.

Mine gets delivered to a "Group" mailbox where there is like 20-25 separate square locking boxes.... I live in sticks so to speak.

Shep :ugeek:

Getting both UPS and Mailman a nice present this year. I doubled or even tripled the amount of mail I sent out this year.

I voted no because they have a nice government job with im sure a ton of benefits.
There wages are based on getting tips like waitress's so i dont think its needed.

You have to think that if maybe some people even gave just a card they would get better service. I'm sure my guy remembers that I do this and that is why he goes out of his way for me.

PO Box here. But the workers there are awesome so I'll probably get them something small.

Tip them for what?Doing their job? Nope. Not to mention I am not too happy with my mail carrier. Its funny. One day they will deliver the mail and it will be here at 10 in the morning and the next day it won't make it here until 6 in the evening. Its like this every single week and I seriously doubt they are just having to cover double shifts.Even if they are...then that means they are understaffed which is also not my problem. But here where I live...you are lucky if the freakin trash man even takes all the trash you leave out there.

No - I tip 20% at restaurants even if they are terrible and I can't even wrap my brain around giving money to a mailman that makes a government wage and receives government benefits.

I'd be much more likely to tip my garbage man.

In my opinion, mail delivery (at least around here in a truck driving from box to box) is not a tip-worthy profession. I tip him by giving him job security by bringing my stuff to our town post office.

I am not sure to be honest....

Mainly because our "main" mail lady has not been around for the last month or so, and I don't want to tip some fill in person.

Am I off with this thinking?

It's certainly not something that is required, but I feel if your mailperson goes above and beyond, they deserve something. My mailman does a great job and goes out of his way for me, so I feel like it's the right thing.

my club asks (puts it on our bill) for a $25 "gift" every December for the staff...I short pay my bill by $25 every year until they remove the $25.

I pay my dues and tip 20%, more on the course, and I don't feel that I have made a solid relationship with any of the staff to where a Christmas gift would be necessary.

My mom usually gives our mailman a care package each year around the Holidays. Like a gift basket or something. She never gives him a cash tip. We've known our mailman for like 10+ years and know his wife as well though. So it's more like a friendship than anything.

Bunch of Grinches!

My guy is getting $40 from me because I feel he's done a great job and he's cool older guy.

He's a nice guy and, lets be honest here, you scrooges are more likely to get a shafting then not.

I gave him bottles of h20 in the summer too.
