My mother always tipped our mailman as a kid. And we got the usual mail, nothing crazy.
She also taped cash to the trash cans around Christmas (this was back when you paid for trash pickup with checks taped to the trash cans)
Seriously dudes, the mailman is a bluecollar job. It's Christmas, toss him/her a tip!
I would imagine your mom is an exception to the rule.I don't think this is a widespread deal and I certainly think a lot of people here would only feel its worth it because they have so much riding on the mail all the time.
If the mailman is a bluecollar job so be it but the fact that they make as much as they do means they won't be getting a tip from me.Nor a present.But then again...I am not happy with my service either and I would never tell them what was in my packages.I don't trust them not to pull some funny business.
