I was hoping someone could she some light on what these are because the seller has not been much help:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEREK-JETER...0447976596?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item5ae8835094

It is my understanding that these cards only come in 2 versions (#'d /1999) and (century vesrion #'d /100). I asked him if these were some type of card show card, but he told me there was no embossing or stamping anywhere on them. He doesn't seem to know what they are either, which makes me concerned. He has a handful of them for sale of Ripken, Jeter, Larkin, etc. Can anyone shed some light on these?

Probably a show card, but nothing's listed in the big Beckett, so who knows.

I got a kick out of the seller's valuation of the card, shows they really don't know how serial #'s and multipliers work. The fact that he claims they're numbered but doesn't show the numbering would worry me; could be a home-stamped unnumbered pack-issued error or backdoored version.

Yeah, I had the same concerns. I even asked if he had a scan of the back and he kind of deflected the question. He said he bought them in a lot of cards and these were in the lot. He has good feedback, but i think i am going to pass on this one. If it goes for real cheap I might bite just to see what it is :)

He is a member here. He has a Gwynn, too, bit I am just not too sure. I have been pretty tapped out anyways...

It's the Century version (Stars above All-Star on front), but it should be serial numbered to /100. Would want to see a back scan before bidding. Donruss did a lot of show cards /5 in that era, but I see you considered that and if there is no embossing at all, then it's not a National or Chicago Collection card.

Thanks for all the input guys. It looks like it is legit when comparing it to the Jeter and the Ripken. So, am I correct in saying that the Ripken and Jeter do not have any distinguishable embossing or stamping (other than the serial numbering of course)?

2002 Donruss Elite All Star Salutes - National is what I believe it is...

Aaron is a smart cat, pretty funny that he dropped the $1000 BV on it.....

That is actually not mine. I have #1/5. I found the 3 I got at a show. They were Gwynn, Rivera, and Jeter.

I didn't know much about them but the guy I got them from stated that Panini had used the /5 version as giveaways at more than 1 event.

Thanks for throwing my name out there but that was not my card that was auctioned off.

Please have facts straight before posting.

Looks like you may get a 2nd chance on the Larkin. Not sure how this makes me feel knowing he has multiples. Not sure I would say fake, but definately appears to be backdoored somehow.
