I see someone's in post season form tonight already...

LOL, great post. CC is a post season zero. Hopefully he's able to turn it around this postseason but I'm not counting on it

Considering how many innings he's thrown to get into the postseason, it isn't that big a shock. Not everyone can coast through the regular season like Beckett and be 100% come playoff time.

Difference there is that Beckett has missed time almost every season during the regular season and hasn't been great by any measure in the regular season. CC has been much better in the regular season than Beckett ever has. Most overrated pitcher in the league (Beckett).

You can still be very good and be overrated. He is a great example.

I agree that is possible, but you may want to take a gander at CC's and Beckett's career stats. They are VERY similar and Beckett has spent much more time in the "toughest division in baseball."

It's not really the "toughest division in baseball" when you play for one of the two all-star teams in the division. If this was a Hallday thread, maybe.

First off, CC isn't even the second best pitcher in the AL this season.

Second, for those saying "he's in the toughest division in baseball"...I ask this:

Bos & TB or ANA & Tex?

Last I checked, Anaheim has a better record than Boston and Texas has a better record than Tampa Bay. Hell, you can go one further and say that Oakland and Toronto have the same record, therefore, they're on par.

Let's not forget, CC plays FOR the best team in baseball.

Any voter who thinks CC deserves it for 20 wins, while playing on the team with the best record in baseball, despite ALL of his numbers being worse than Greinke and Felix, needs to have his/her voting rights revoked.

Yea, comparing the 2nd best team in the East with the best team in the West and the 3rd best team in the East with the 2nd best team in the West according to records makes A LOT of sense. ::facepalm::

He was making the point that CC doesn't have to face the Yankees, while Felix has to face the two best teams in his division.

Since C.C. lasted a whopping 2.2 innings and got shelled...

As much as I like Felix..

#1 Greinke,
#2 Felix
#3 C.C.
#4 Verlander..

Greinke had a great year playing on one of the worst teams in baseball..

Exactly.

Saying CC plays in the "toughest division" is a load of BS, since he doesn't have to face the best team in that division. Instead, he faces the 2nd through 5th teams, which are worse than the 1st, 2nd and 4th teams that Felix faces in the West.

Anaheim > Boston
Texas > TB
Oakland > Toronto AND Baltimore

Oh, and on top of it, Felis HAS faced the "best team in baseball" this year and owned them in his one start. He's also faced the second best team in the AL (Anaheim) four times and has pretty much owned them.

So yes, it IS a fair comparis

No, it is not. If you are going to break it down team by team to compare an average of what the pitcher faces inside the division, why on earth would you use a team's record? I think team batting statistics would be a MUCH better comparison. Thanks for playing...

He also got shelled by Cleveland therefore no credit for him!

Seriously the whole toughest division this is BS. In a game that is 162 games a season, where any team can win on any night, and a game that is so reliant on Streaks. With players being brought up and down, going on the DL, and playing through injuries it seems silly to say player X is better than player Y because he played Z team once.

The Yankees were not that great in April but were untouchable in July as the Royals were amazing in September and April but horrible during June and July...but we are going to tap someone on the head because they pitched against a team that may have been resting their All-Stars after a day/night double header or skipping the start of the Ace because of tenderness in his shoulder.
