Tampa is in a great position to completely reload an already above average farm system. They already added a lot of nice pieces in the Garza trade, and have a ton of picks.

Another team that is in a really good position to add to the top of the farm system is the Red Sox. The top of the system is a little barren, but the depth is already there and is as good as almost any other farm system. This draft should allow them to add another 1-2 top 10 prospects and set them up for the future.

Meanwhile, Both the Sox and Raysn will have 4+ picks before the Yankees have one now that they signed Soriano. This is a great opportunity for both teams to create/increase a farm system advantage over NY

Just think, in future BDP products, someone could really rack up if they pick the Rays. They could have tons of cards in a set in the next couple years with that many high-rounders.

Yeah, this is gonna be fun. There will obviously be some "signability" picks in there, but likely 12 or more top 200 prospects will potentially be added to the Rays system.

Nats are well positioned in the 2011 draft too, and they don't have to pay top-pick money this year. Should be a fun draft for them also.

I wonder what TB's draft budget's going to be. If they're cutting back big at the MLB level, they may be taking quite a few signability guys.

They really do need to do something about the rankings though. Relief pitchers get so overrated by the Elias formula. There's no way someone like Jason Frasor or Grant Balfour should be worth a first rounder. It killed Frasor's chances of getting a multi-year deal.

Potential draft bonanza aside, I do feel sorry for Rays fans. It's going to be nearly impossible to adequatley replace the talent they lost in the past two months.

In a deep draft class, with that many picks in the the first 100 for a team with scouting like the Rays should pay big dividends.

Hopefully they do a better job than the angels last year. Cowart, Bedrosian, Clarke, Cash, Tillman, etc. was mediocre for the picks they had.

Postseason may not be likely in 2011, but it wasn't likely in 2008 either. The Rays are going to be just fine.

At this point, all that matters is the budget for the draft. It they plan on spending on $10 million or less, they will HAVE to take guys who will sign below slot. It would be AWESOME if they spend $16-$17 on the draft and the would truly LOAD an already loaded system.

Based on what? Sox were WS champs in 07, Yanks in 09. From 99-08 the rays had a top 10 pick overall every year, and only 2 of those picks were lower than 4th overall. Lets see how big the draft budget is to sign all of these players.

The Padres just signed reliever Chad Qualls, thus giving the Rays another Supplemental pick (# 60).
