Rangers 5th round pick Brandon Woodruff is going to school.

Most everybody is signed except for two guys that will be well over slot. We probably won't know til the deadline if they sign.
6th Round Derek Fisher -Wanted 2.5 million before the draft. Last I heard he only wanted 1st round money.
24th Round - Zach Fish - HS catcher with plus power. Wants to go pro. I really hope they get him signed.

Re: 2011 Draft Picks Official Signings Thread

Not official yet, but Sonny Gray and Trevor Bauer are evidently about to sign.

Keith Law tweeted that Gray was in Oakland for his physical, and Peter Gammons tweeted that Bauer had just passed his.

Gray is expected to be assigned to AA Midland, and could even get a Sept. callup.

Bauer will be signing a big league contract.

Re: 2011 Draft Picks Official Signings Thread

Looks like it's official - Bauer has signed. Wonder what his bonus will be.

D'Backs To Sign Trevor Bauer
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 25, 2011 at 5:22pm CST]

5:22pm: The D'Backs announced that they have signed Bauer to a Major League contract.

4:56pm: Trevor Bauer, the third overall pick in this year's draft, has passed his physical with Arizona for his first big league contract, according to Peter Gammons of MLB Network (on Twitter).

Bauer, 20, had “the deepest repertoire of any pitcher in the draft,” according to Baseball America. He can reach 96 mph with his fastball and has “top-of-the-rotation upside,” according to BA. Bauer's extensive repertoire worked at the collegiate level this season, as he posted a 1.25 ERA with 203 strikeouts and 36 walks in 136 2/3 innings for UCLA.

After selecting Bauer with Arizona's top pick, D’Backs’ amateur scouting director Ray Montgomery suggested he can be a difference-making starter.

“We see him as a potential rotational guy for us and I think his talent gives him a chance to make an impact on us sooner rather than later,” Montgomery said in June.

Bauer explained last month that Arizona's philosophy about scouting and player development matches up with his own somewhat unorthodox workout regimen. Since Bauer has already worked so many innings, Arizona could choose to shut him down for 2011 if they complete a deal.

The D'backs will have a 4:30 (West Coast time) press conference to announce Bauer's signing.

A’s Ink Gray For $1.54 Million

Posted Jul. 25, 2011 6:00 pm by Jim Callis
Filed under: Signings

The Athletics have signed first-round pick Sonny Gray for $1.54 million. He becomes just the eighth of the 33 first-rounders to sign, and only the third to exceed MLB's bonus recommendations. The guideline for his No. 18 slot is $1,422,000.

Gray will spend a week at the A's spring-training complex in Phoenix before heading to Double-A Midland. Much like fellow Vanderbilt first-rounders David Price and Mike Minor, he probably won't require much minor league seasoning before reaching the majors.

Though he's only 5-foot-11, Gray had arguably the best fastball-curveball combo in the draft. A righthander, he works from 90-95 mph and touches 97 with his fastball, and his power curve can be just as devastating.

Bauer update - he has been assigned to High-A Visalia (likely because of its' close proximity to AZ), and will make his first start this Saturday.

JP, do you know what Bauer signed for? BA doesn't have it yet.

According to Jack Macgruder -- #Dbacks Bauer deal worth about $7 mill, counting bonus and salary money on 4-year major league deal.

Re: Draft Picks Official Signings Thread (Bauer & Gray Sign!)

I don't get what the strategy is for some of the guys who reportedly aren't even negotiating with their teams. Jackie Bradley said on Twitter that he hasn't even had a single discussion with the Red Sox yet. Is the strategy simply to hold out as long as possible and hope the offer goes up?

Some teams don't start to negotiate until August.

Somewhere I saw, maybe on MLBTradeRumors, that the Twins had inked 3rd round pick, Vandy pitcher, Corey Williams for $600K, which was above slot.

Ohhhhh really now?

Kendall Rogers
One interesting little note. Spoke to a solid source tonight that felt there was a 60% chance #Pirates second-rounder Josh Bell signs. #MLB
